Chapter 1219 Surgeons' Calling
At Cherise's side, Lucy wasn't in much better shape.
"It's stable! The patient's heartbeat is within normal range!" The young nurse beside her excitedly shouted, her eyes glued to the heart monitor.
Without the help of the two young doctors, there was no way they would have been able to save such a critical patient!
"Dr. Shaw and Dr. Staber are amazing!"
"Of course they are," an older surgeon near them crowed as he rubbed his beard. "Did you assume Dr. Shaw's reputation as a genius surgeon came from nowhere?"
The young nurse's mouth dropped open in awe. "Then... why did they take a break from practicing medicine?"
The elderly doctor exhaled. "They probably have their own justifications..."
Lucy rested against the wall in the corner of the room and turned a tired head towards Cherise next to her. "Dr. Shaw, do you still plan on staying a stay-at-home wife?"
Cherise turned towards Lucy and grinned. "What about you, Dr. Staber? Are you going to keep being a gaming streamer?"
Lucy shook her head. "No, I have a friend who wants to go back to practicing medicine, so I should accompany her."
Cherise rolled her eyes. "Then I guess I'll have to come back and be a doctor with you."
They enjoyed a laugh together as they propped themselves against the wall.
Cherise once felt she would never pick up a scalpel again.
But the moment her eyes laid upon Maeve's weak heartbeat, she felt compelled to rethink her decision.
The memories of her previous passion for becoming a doctor and the many patients she had helped came to mind. She thought of Jude's ex, Phoenix, and Syatt looking for her at Lermille.
Thanks to her scalpel, she had either helped them extend their lives or bestowed upon them a renewed sense of living.
Getting back into being a doctor didn't seem so terrible after all.
A helicopter had landed on the hospital rooftop. Two towering men with notably similar features emerged from the helicopter, eschewing the elevator and racing straight down the stairs.
Colin led the way. He stormed to the ICU, seized Charles by the collar, and delivered a firm punch to his face.
"Is this what you meant when you promised to look after Maeve!?"
Otto had already told them about what had happened as they were en route, leaving nothing out, such as the real reason why Maeve had fallen so ill.
Charles staggered back from the blow Colin had delivered, pressing against the wall. Brushing off the blood from his lip, he commented, "Nice hit."
"How is my sister?" In stark contrast to Colin, Damien remained remarkably calm as he asked.
"She's alright for now." With his eyes shut, Charles added, "You should go find Dr. Shaw and Dr. Staber. They seemed exhausted."
Damien and Colin entered the doctors' lounge to find Lucy and Cherise enthusiastically savoring some grilled cheese sandwiches.

🌸 Message to the Author: 🌸 Hi! I just finished reading your story, and I truly loved it — especially Damien and Cherise’s journey. But what completely stole my heart was Lennon and Lucy. Their final scene left me stunned… Lennon being alive, quietly showing up after all that time — it was such a powerful and emotional moment. But it also left me with so many feelings… What happened to him? How did Lucy react after the shock wore off? What did they say to each other? I keep thinking about them. I know they’re side characters, and the story is marked as completed, but I would truly love a bonus chapter — even a small one — to see what came next for them. They deserve that closure. And honestly? So do we, as readers who deeply connected with them. And we would also love to see more of Damien and cherise with their kids. Thank you for creating characters that live so deeply in our hearts. If you ever feel inspired, please consider giving Lennon and Lucy a little more. ❤️...
