Lucy stayed quiet, and her lips pressed together tightly. Her slender arm reached for another bottle of potent liquor, drinking from it hastily, causing tears and snot to stream down her face. Supporting her head on her hand, Lucy turned to Cherise, slightly dazed. "Do you know why he promised me not to bother Colin?" With a bitter smile, she rolled up her right sleeve, exposing a series of unsightly scars on her pale, slender arm.

Cherise was startled, swiftly pulling Lucy's sleeve down and lowering her voice. "Didn't Jacob introduce you to a talented plastic surgeon?"

This time, Cherise chose not to interfere. Quietly, she called Otto and told him to wait outside the bar.

At ten o'clock that evening, Mandy rushed out of the airport. She dialed Cherise's number for the fifth time, only to be met with the dial tone. Lucy didn't answer her phone either, and Damien was equally unresponsive. "D*mn it! What's going on?"
