Chapter 89

Now, not just Theodore’s phone but Eliana’s started buzzing nonstop.

[Huh? New member in the group?]

[Who’s the newbie?]

[Who else? Theodore’s honey!]

[OMG! Don’t just staresay hello!]

[Hi, I’m Scott. I own a beauty salon. Swing by and I’ll hook you up with a discount.]

[Hey, the guy promoting his business up there, buzz off! Theodore’s girlfriend is a natural beautyneeds zero help from your dump!)

The group of socialites bantered endlessly. Before Eliana could make sense of it, her phone froze.

When her phone went quiet after a bit, Theodore asked, What’s going on?

Rubbing her strained eyes, Eliana mumbled, So many messages that it crashed.

Theodore scoffed, Your phone’s outdated.

Eliana puffed her cheeks, thinking, Obviously they were the ones talking nonstop!

Who are all these people?she asked.

Theodore flopped into a chair leisurely. Mostly my crowd.

Huh?Eliana blurted, stunned. Then why add me?

Theodore lied smoothly, They wouldn’t stop asking who Grandma made me marry, so I added you.

Total liehe’d been the one to spill the beans.

But Eliana didn’t know that. Now that they know, can I leave the group?she asked, clueless.

These guys seemed like a headache. Especially since some were already pushing villas on her.

But with her 3,000dollar monthly salary, she couldn’t afford a single tile, let alone a villa.

Seeing her awkward look, Theodore smirked. They’re just messing with you. Though if you want something, I can tell them to send it over.

Eliana was stunned, thinking, So this is rich people’s friendship? Wild.

Meanwhile, Alice’s finger hovered over the Leave Groupbutton, trembling, making several attempts to hit it.

She’d been lying to herself, thinking Theodore was mad but still had a soft spot for her.

But when she saw him add Eliana to the group/tears spilled from her eyes. Shame made her want to leave the group right away, to stop seeing everyone

fawn over Eliana.

But then she hesitated, thinking, I’m not quitting as a loser!

Chapter 89

Meanwhile, Lainey was furious. That old coot is so damn biased!

Anthony sighed, Mom, watch your language.

Lainey ranted, I’m doing this for you! Why should you give up your position to Theodore just because his eyes are healed? So your two years of work mean nothing?

Anthony laughed bitterly, Grandpa gave me the vice president role, didn’t he?

Lainey scoffed, What’s the point? It’s just a title.

Anthony’s eyes darkened. Daniel was tricky, he had to admit. Keeping him at Russell Group as Theodore’s deputy instead of kicking him outpartly to keep him stable, partly to make sure he helped Theodore without causing trouble.

Late at night, Eliana stirred from a groggy sleep, feeling like she was floating. She struggled awake and found herself in Theodore’s arms, being carried to

the bed.

She jolted awake, panicking. WWhat are you doing?

Theodore said primly, The couch is cold. Sleep in bed.

No thanks!Even though she’d enjoyed Daniel smacking him, that didn’t mean she’d forgiven his lie.

Too bad Eliana had wrapped herself in a blanket like a cocoon before bedshe couldn’t squirm free. She could only let him set her down on the

mattress.

Eliana squirmed restlessly under the blanket, her voice full of fury. Let go of me!

But Theodore suddenly braced his hands on either side of her, lowered his eyes, and said in a deep, threatening tone, If you keep squirming, I’ll make you squirm all night long.

Stunned, Eliana went rigid at once. Seeing he wasn’t kidding, she could only pout and shut her eyes, swallowing her anger.

Watching her eyelashes flutter like butterfly wings about to take flight, Theodore felt an unbearable itch in his chest. He suddenly leaned down and kissed her eye gently.

Her lashes trembled even more violently.

At this, Theodore pressed his forehead against hers and sighed softly, Don’t be afraid of me.

The next day was Saturday. Eliana didn’t have to work, but she still got up early. She decided to go to the Therapy Center to see the children.

When she picked up her phone and casually scrolled through it, she saw there were already hundreds of unread messages in the group Theodore had added her to the night before.

Out of boredom, she scanned a few and found they were still curious about her.

[Theodore’s girlfriend is so mysterious.]

[Does anyone know which prominent family she’s from?]

Just then, someone with a beautiful woman as his profile picture sent a message: [I know. Anyone who wants her information can buy it from me. 30 thousand dollars per piece.]

[Okay, I want it!]

Thinking the person was being serious, Eliana tapped his profile picture and texted: [Who are you?]

[Clinton.]

It’s him?!Eliana thought. She was so startled that her phone nearly slipped from her hand. She quickly typed: [Don’t give away my identity!]

Clinton: [Fine, say something nice.]

Eliana was at a loss for words.
