Chapter 230
Eliana asked, “So, did you come with that Noah guy?”
Megan nodded. “Yeah. Felix really grates on my ears when he talks, but his plan hits all the right notes for me. So I’ll go along with him this once.”
Eliana couldn’t help but recall the heated argument between Megan and Felix in Nolan’s office a month ago. With an amused chuckle, she teased,
“You’re not scared of him?”
Megan pouted, “Mr. Hall filled me in about him afterward, but what’s done is done. The worst he can do is blacklist me.”
“Not on my watch,” Eliana said.
Megan wrapped her arms around Eliana, nuzzling her affectionately. “See? I knew you were the best.”
Just then, Noah’s sleazy voice drifted in from outside the restroom. “Sweetheart. Are you done yet? Mr. Nash and the others are dying to meet you.
Megan sneered, “That bastard really thinks he can use me as his stepping stone to climb the corporate ladder? If he wants to rise through the ranks on my back, I’ll make sure he crashes and burns.”
Eliana cautioned, “Megan, even though everything’s going according to plan, you still need to be careful.”
Megan gave a firm nod and strode out.
Eliana stepped out right after, only to see Megan surrounded by a group of men, their hands all over her as they tried to take advantage of her. It was obvious from their leering looks that they were up to no good.
As her gaze shifted, she spotted Felix leaning casually against a nearby railing with a champagne glass in hand. Catching her look, he raised his glass in a distant toast.
Startled, Eliana froze for a moment, wondering, ‘Is Felix here to protect Megan?‘
Just then, Noah caught sight of Eliana out of the corner of his eye. After a brief pause, he pointed at her and said, “Hey, aren’t you that rookie from the other day? Who brought you here?”
“You’ve got the wrong person,” Eliana said coldly, turning to look for Theodore.
To her surprise, Noah strode over and seized her arm, sneering, “Don’t think I don’t recognize you. You entertainers all put on this holier–than–thou act, but we both know you’ll do anything for the right price. Since that’s the case, let me hook you up with some… opportunities.”
Seeing Eliana being harassed, Felix strolled over with a sardonic smile. He warned, “Let her go now, or you won’t be needing that hand much longer.”
Before Noah could process what Felix meant, his hand that was clutching Eliana was suddenly yanked and twisted from behind. A sharp pain shot through him, and his face instantly contorted in agony.
“What do you think you’re doing to my wife?” Theodore had made his way to the restroom, uneasy about leaving Eliana alone. To his surprise, he witnessed this scene.
Hearing Theodore’s voice, Noah was so terrified he forgot his pain and stammered, “S–s–she’s your wife?”
Theodore narrowed his eyes dangerously. “What? You didn’t know?”
In pain and clearly terrified, Noah stammered, “-I swear, Mr. Russell. I really didn’t know.”
Theodore asked coldly, “Do you know now?”
Noah nodded frantically, stammering, “I-… I’ll never forget this for the rest of my life.”
