Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Eliana stared blankly. “Th–then what should i do?”
Samuel thought for a moment and replied, “I recall there’s a small kitchen on the second floor that hasn’t been used in a while. Mrs. Ros could use it to make something.”
Eliana was speechless. She thought, ‘What’s that supposed to mean? Am I seriously expected to cook dinner for Theodore every day?
She let out an awkward laugh and turned to Theodore, who hadn’t spoken in a while. “Mr. Russell, the company I work at often keeps me working inte
“Plus, traffic is always terrible on the way back. There’s no way you’d be willing to wait for me to cook dinner for you, right?”
She thought, ‘Please say no. I’m begging you.‘
Unfortunately, things didn’t go her way. The next second, she heard Theodore say, “I can wait.”
Eliana went silent. She thought, ‘Aren’t you supposed to be all proud and stubborn, Mr. Russell?”
Samuel took the opportunity to pull out a booklet. “Mrs. Russell, don’t worry. I’ve already put together a full meal plan for Mr. Russell. Just follow the steps in here.”
Eliana accepted the booklet with a heavy heart. She felt like Samuel wasn’t just a doctor–he should’ve been a negotiation expert. They’d barely met, she’d already agreed to so many “unfair terms“.
“Mrs. Russell,” Samuel said.
Eliana asked, “W–what now?”
Under her nervous gaze, Samuel smiled, “I should be going.”
Eliana let out a silent sigh of relief. “I’ll walk you out.”
Samuel didn’t refuse. As they stepped outside the room, he suddenly pulled a small, delicate red bottle from his pocket. “Almost forgot. Here, Mrs. Russell, this is for you.”
Eliana asked curiously, “What is it?”
A flicker of something unreadable flashed through Samuel’s eyes. “It’s rose essential oil. It helps relax the nerves and soothe the body. Just add a fe drops when you and Mr. Russell take a bath–it’ll guarantee a good night’s sleep.”
“Really?” Eliana didn’t notice the slight pause in Samuel’s tone. She even smiled a little as she accepted the bottle, saying, “I get to use it too? Thar
Just then, Wyatt came upstairs and turned to Samuel. “Dr. Wilson, Mrs. Lainey Russell would like to speak with you downstairs about Mr. Russell’s
condition.”
Samuel
gave Eliana a small nod, then followed Wyatt down the stairs.
Later, Eliana turned back into the room and immediately saw the meal plan Samuel had left behind.
She couldn’t help letting out a sigh. “Just putting it out there–I’m not much of a cook,” she said to Theodore.
Theodore replied coolly, “No way it could be worse than whatever Wyatt’s been feeding me.”
Thinking of all those watery soups and sour leftovers, Eliana suddenly felt a surge of confidence in her cooking. “Okay, maye not that bad.”
With that, she guided Theodore to pick up the takeout. “You’ll have to make do with this for tonight.”
