The next day, Matthew woke up early and prepared breakfast. He first delivered a portion to his mother-in-law, then headed to Sasha's door. "Princess Sasha, time to get up and eat."
There was no response from inside the room. Matthew thought Sasha hadn't heard him, so he knocked on the door again.
Silence. Not even the faintest sound of movement from the bed. Matthew's expression changed as his grandmaster-level senses spread out like a tide.
There was no sign of life inside the room…
Matthew's face darkened, and a wave of panic surged within him, gripping his heart.
With no regard for the lock, Matthew forced the door open. The empty bedroom showed no sign of Sasha. The bed was neatly made, orange peels filled the trash can by the bed, and a water glass sat on the table with a sheet of white paper underneath…
Suddenly realizing something, Matthew quickly stepped to the bedside table, carefully picking up the sheet of white paper. Neat handwriting met his gaze. He stared at the paper, his eyes blank, as if something had lodged in his throat, making it impossible to catch his breath despite his desperate attempts. The gut-wrenching pain tore through him, causing his whole body to tremble uncontrollably.
Why… Why did she leave without a word? Why didn't she tell me she was leaving?
Matthew, who had rarely cried since childhood, was now in tears.
Suddenly, a thought crossed Matthew's mind. He frantically opened the closet, only to find that the gifts he had previously bought for Sasha were gone.
Rushing through the crowded streets, with pedestrians and vehicles everywhere, Matthew raced toward the Martial League at top speed, disregarding everything else.
At one intersection, distracted, Matthew didn't notice a large truck barreling toward him. It struck him, sending him flying into a nearby building. Dust and debris filled the air as blood trickled from Matthew's mouth. He placed his hand on his ribs, realigning two broken ones and temporarily wrapping them with spiritual power.
Despite the injury, he continued to run toward the Martial League building as if Sasha were waiting for him there.
His figure continued to race toward the Martial League building as if Sasha was waiting for him there.
'After I'm gone, I want you to be happy. Don't stay up too late, and make sure to eat on time, but not too much. There's so much more I want to tell you in person… I'm sorry, Matthew. Please forgive me for leaving without a word, your wife, Sasha.'
