Leaving You Bereft (Willow and Julian) novel Chapter 268

The next day, Julian went to the checkups at the hospital with Willow, and all signs pointed to a healthy baby.

Melanie was overjoyed when she learned about the news She sprinted to the study and told Liam about it. To her surprise, he already knew about it long ago, and He was still carefully wiping his precious antique.

She flew into a rage and bellowed, All you do is wipe these old pieces of crap. You never showed any interest in our son’s life!

Liam turned sideways, looked at Melanie, and responded slowly, They’re not nearly half as old as you.

She slumped into the chair and wept quietly. I know I’m old and not as young or beautiful as your assistant. And I know that you think I’m a fool. You still blame me for what happened a few years ago!

But, do you think for a second that I wasn’t crushed by what happened?

Julian was in my belly for ten long months when I was pregnant. He was born a perfect boy, and yet one of his arms is ruined forever. Do you think that it doesn’t break my heart?

I know you blame me, but enough is enough!

I would’ve given my life if it meant Julian would get his arm back.

Liam put down the antique case and stared at Melanie. For the past few years, he had indeed been ignoring her. Now that she was crying in front of him, his heart went soft a little, but he didn’t intend to patch things up with her. 1

As she said, one of Julian’s arms was ruined, and he would never be able to let it go. Sometimes, it just wasn’t possible to forget and forgive.

When Melanie was done crying, she packed up some supplements and went out to visit Willow.

In the blink of an eye, it was the end of the year. On the night before New Year’s Eve, Julian was going through his family archive in the CEO’s office of Nebula Group.

Esther entered his office. He knew that it was her, and he asked, Has the money been transferred?

Starting four years ago, Nebula Group stopped holding yearend banquets and distributed the budget to every single employee instead.

Esther nodded. The finance department is working on it as we speak.

She paused a little and asked, The public relations department is asking if you want to post a publicity photo this year.

Julian raised his gaze and looked at her. After a brief moment, he picked out a picture from his phone. It was the painting that Gabriella made of an actor. Dadwas the caption.

Esther felt quite speechless. It seemed like Julian had gotten more abstract over the years,

That said, the truth was that anything he did would be praised to high heaven. After all, he was their boss. The moment the publicity photo was published, the comments rolled in, and they were all flattering, to say

the least.

It’s that time again, fellows. Our CEO is showing us his blessed life once more.

Mr. Ziegler looks so happy with a son and a daughter. He’s making me think about getting married. From what I heard, Gabriella looks like her dad, and Landon resembles his mom. Now, that’s what I call perfect genes!

Normally, Julian wouldn’t have cared about the comments, but he went through them one by one today, and his heart was filled with warmth.

He went off work early today. The black limousine pulled into a big villa underneath the evening sun. Once the car was parked, Benjamin opened the car door for him.

Julian held a box of cake in his hand and walked through the door. He called out to the kids as he changed into a pair of indoor slippers.

Normally, they would’ve come running at him much sooner, but things were very quiet in the villa today, quiet and forlorn.

A maid came over and said, Someone from the Ziegler residence came and took the kids away this afternoon.

Julian raised his gaze when he heard what she said. Where’s Willow? Did she go along with them?

The maid took his thin coat and responded with a smile. Mrs. Ziegler didn’t leave with them. She went out around evening, but it probably wasn’t a dinner appointment, judging by the modest and simple outfit she wore.

Julian’s expression turned paler as seconds went by. Then, he changed back into his leather shoes, put on a thin coat, and went out again.
