Charlie fixed Willow with a gaze of profound disappointment as he exclaimed, "You're just as heartless as your mother! How could you do this to Alicia? She's your sister, for goodness' sake!"
Yet, before Willow could even respond to Charlie, someone tall suddenly sauntered into the office. He then tossed his backpack onto the coffee table, glared at Charlie, and barked, "Get out of the way!"
Charlie raised his gaze, spotting a handsome youth before him. He felt a wave of disdain washing over him as he thundered, "Do you have any idea who you're talking to?"
Caleb sat on the coffee table and continued chewing his gum, looking like a hoodlum as he exclaimed, "I know who you are! You're the one I saw at the fertility clinic a few days ago, right? I guess you're missing something important down there."
Charlie's face flushed crimson with rage as he snapped, "Why, you! I'll sue you!"
"Go on, sue me! You can take it up with my father's attorney! Oh, and in case you didn't know—my father is Braxton Young," Caleb said as he threw a business card at Charlie. It was Jeffrey's business card.
Charlie's speech faltered, realizing that Braxton, the CEO of Aegis Group, was the father of the young man before him. He absolutely couldn't afford to mess with him.
…
It was after Charlie had left that Caleb settled onto Willow's desk and said, "Your ex-husband hired me to keep an eye on you because he's worried that you're being unfaithful."
Willow picked up the business card and asked softly, "Are you acquainted with Jeffrey?"
Caleb eyed her suspiciously and asked, "Is he your lover?"
Willow ignored the question and handed him a form, saying, "I need you to fill this out. You'll be working with Insight Corporation from now on. Your paycheck and benefits will come from us. You'll have nothing to do with Julian."
Caleb exclaimed, "I never had anything to do with him in the first place! I'm not a freaking woman!"
Willow remained silent, fixing her gaze on the business card.
Caleb chewed on the tip of the black pen, looking at Willow thoughtfully. Having filled out the form, he stepped outside to call Julian, saying, "Your wife initially wouldn't take me in, but after seeing Jeffrey's business card, she immediately changed her mind. Is she and Jeffrey having an affair?"
Caleb, sitting on the coffee table with his long legs stretched out, chewed his gum and said, "You and Julian are basically the same—two of a kind, both full of hypocrisy."
Willow said with a sneer, "Thanks for the compliment. Please get out of my office now."
Caleb got up lazily and left. He was just there to pass the time and keep Braxton happy, after all. He coincidentally managed to witness something interesting, though.
…
It was already 8:00 pm. Willow massaged her temples and tossed the car keys to Caleb, saying, "It's time for you to drive me home. Come on!"
Caleb was in the middle of a game, intending to finish it. However, when he thought of Willow's frigid expression, he put away his phone and got up to follow Willow out.
Julian was standing outside the company. He leaned against a black Rolls-Royce, exuding an air of refined elegance, with a cigarette held between his fingers. His arm moved rhythmically, the glowing ember casting a red hue that seemed to scorch the surrounding darkness.
