Leaving the Wrong Love Behind Forever novel Chapter 22

His temperature rose steadily, his consciousness gradually blurring.

Suddenly, Maxwell thought he saw Alison's silhouette before him.

"Alison!"

Just as he reached out to touch her, the image vanished—it was only a hallucination.

Coming to his senses, Maxwell stared at the empty house, overwhelming frustration building inside him.

Despite his weakened state, he frantically searched the entire house, turning it upside down, but couldn't find a single item related to Alison.

Their photos had disappeared, her clothes were gone, and even the love journals he had once written for her had vanished.

Everything was gone.

Maxwell covered his forehead, dazed. That box Alison had thrown away that night must have contained all their memories.

Why hadn't he noticed then?

If he had been more attentive, if he had looked more closely, would things have turned out differently?

His burning body made him nearly lose consciousness, while his heart ached unbearably.

Instinctively, he fumbled for his phone and dialed a number etched into his memory—Alison's number.

"Alison... I'm sick. Can you come see me?"

His weak voice traveled through the phone to her ears, momentarily catching her off guard.

Of course, at that moment, she had no mental capacity to recall what he had said.

Arthur was kissing the corner of Alison's mouth, aggressively claiming territory, hardly giving her a chance to breathe.

Clothes gradually fell to the floor, making little sound, but Maxwell could clearly hear what was happening.

Being experienced, how could he not know what they were doing at that very moment?

Maxwell hastily hung up, his heart filled with such jealousy and bitterness that he nearly lost his mind.

"Alison, you're mine. How could you and him..."

This time, he answered.

His mother's agitated voice came through:

"Maxwell! What are you doing? Isn't your girlfriend Alison? How could you have a wedding with Bella? Was that really you in the video?!"

"Bella came to our house saying she wants to get a marriage certificate with you. What are you thinking? Explain this to us!"

"The whole world knows you married Bella now. That lunatic has posted videos and photos of you two together online, publicly declaring her love and forcing you into marriage. If you don't get married now, how will you save face?!"

"What?!"

Maxwell could hardly believe what he was hearing. He quickly opened Alison's social media account.

The videos and photos had countless views and likes, with numerous gossip accounts breathlessly promoting their "beautiful love story."

The topic dominated the top trending list.

Most shockingly, his friends had shared Bella's posts with captions like: "It's true. They're very much in love."
