"Young Madam, now that Old Lady Bridgewater is back, you can inform her about this situation. Once she learns about it, she will surely assist you," the butler suggested.
"No," Sylvia replied, feeling embarrassed, shaking her head.
She refrained from disclosing to the butler that she had given birth to triplets or the true circumstances surrounding Christopher and Jennifer. These two children were her entire world, and she couldn't bear to lose them!
All she could express was,
“Butler Lang, I am currently unemployed, and my living situation is not ideal. Hendrick is the young master of the Bridgewater family, and he will have a better future here. Therefore, I don't want others to be aware of this situation. I simply wish to care for him discreetly for a while. Once he recovers, he will leave. This is the true reason I approached you, and I implore you to help me maintain this secret."
"This must be quite challenging for you," the butler suddenly grasped after hearing her explanation. He nodded and sighed.
"You are indeed a wonderful mother. Young Master Hendrick is truly fortunate to have you. Alright, I'll propose to Master Arthur tomorrow whether it's feasible to engage a therapist for Young Master Hendrick. You can figure out a way to make the request."
"Thank you," Sylvia smiled, expressing her gratitude.
The butler appeared concerned. "But, Sheryl, that woman harbors malicious intentions, so you must be extremely cautious."
Sylvia smiled faintly. "Don't worry, even though she's malicious, her intelligence isn't that impressive. I have a strategy to handle her."
At least in the past, she had outsmarted her adversaries.
The butler nodded, "Rest assured, I'll assist you discreetly."
Sylvia expressed her gratitude, bid him farewell, and walked away.
The night was shrouded in mist.
She stood beneath the tree, gazing up at the bedroom above.
The lights in the study room were still ablaze, indicating that Arthur was working late into the night.
In the adjacent bedroom, the windows were shut tight, enveloping the room in darkness.
It appeared that Hendrick had already drifted off to sleep.
Considering the late hour, she decided against disturbing the child's slumber.
She held onto the belief that she would soon be able to openly stay with him.
Turning away, she silently exited the room.
...
Early the following morning.
At the entrance of the Montessori Academy.
Onlookers cast envious glances at the family of four and showered them with compliments.
As Sylvia observed little Hendrick, a striking resemblance to Christopher, her heart pained as if cut by a knife.
Her son was living with that woman.
The way his young mind had developed was beyond her imagination.
No wonder he was reserved and aloof.
However, she felt helpless in the face of this reality.
After all, Sheryl had given birth to Elaine for Arthur.
It was evident that Arthur showered Elaine with immense affection and love.
With her son, Hendrick, remaining in this expansive family, she had no means to take him away, let alone contend with Arthur.
She placed her hand on her chest, her face growing pale.
All she could manage was to secretly offer Hendrick a bit of motherly care.
