Seeing how cooperative Larissa was, the Lincoln family butler suddenly felt his confidence waver.
Could it be that Fergus really wasn’t here?
Lucius, however, wasn’t about to back down. He needed to know for sure. “Go in,” he commanded his butler.
Having come this far, the butler had no choice but to brace himself and enter the estate. He and the police followed Larissa’s car through the gates.
Larissa parked in the garage, then led the police, Lucius, and his butler toward the east wing villa.
“Larissa, you’re back.” Sapphira saw Lucius and the police behind her daughter and froze, quickly pulling Larissa to her side.
Larissa squeezed her mother’s hand. “It’s okay, Mom.”
She then turned her attention to her own butler. “Porter, please escort our officers around the property. Let them look for my cousin, Fergus.”
The east wing butler, Porter, nodded quickly. “Yes, miss.”
He then began leading the officers on a thorough search of the estate.
Lucius, still recovering from his injuries and unable to move around easily, didn’t join them. He opted to wait outside the villa.
Larissa turned to Sapphira. “Mom, it’s freezing out here. Let’s go inside and wait.”
She took her mother’s hand and led her into the villa, leaving Lucius to stew in the cold wind.
An hour later, the Lincoln family butler returned to the front of the villa, dejected, trailing behind the police officers.
“Young Master…” his voice trembled slightly. “We… we didn’t find Fergus.”
