At the mention of Fergus being injured, Lucius’s face grew even darker. “He was hurt?”
Larissa nodded. “He was. And he said you were the one who beat him up.”
“That’s bullshit!” the Lincoln butler roared. “Young Master would never lay a hand on Fergus!”
“Why not?” Larissa countered. “He’s my cousin, Aunt Josette’s son. Your master already kicked his mother out of the family, so it makes sense he’d take it out on my cousin too.”
Just then, a police car pulled up.
“What’s the situation here?” the lead officer asked, his eyes flickering slightly as he noticed Lucius sitting in the car.
The butler immediately explained the situation.
The officer then walked over to Larissa’s car with his men. “Open the gate. We need to conduct a search.”
Larissa remained unfazed, raising an eyebrow. “And do you have a warrant? You can’t just order me to open my gate.”
The officer’s brow furrowed, but he kept his composure. “We’re just following procedure. If there’s nothing to hide, this won’t affect you. But if someone is missing and is on this property, we have to act to ensure their safety.”
A smirk played on Larissa’s lips. “Oh? Following procedure? Does your procedure involve randomly searching private residences without a warrant? That’s certainly news to me.”
