“You know perfectly well,” she said, then leaned down and kissed him.
The kiss was light, a soft touch, but Haskell had no intention of stopping there. With a low chuckle, he cupped the back of her head, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss.
The gentle exploration ignited into a passionate fire. Their lips and tongues met in a heated, silent conversation, a desperate search for comfort and connection. The world dissolved around them, leaving only the taste of each other and the frantic beating of their hearts.
After what felt like an eternity, they finally broke apart, breathless.
Haskell gently brushed a thumb over her swollen lips, his voice a husky whisper. “Now that’s what I call compensation.”
Larissa, still trying to catch her breath, laughed. “You’re so greedy.”
“Were you exhausted after all that?” he asked, his tone softening.
“I’m fine. My parents did most of the work,” she said, a playful glint in her eye. “But I bet someone was feeling a little neglected, not getting to talk to me all night.”
“You have no idea,” he teased. “I had to watch as everyone swarmed my Larissa like bees to honey. I think I went through several vats of jealousy.”
She laughed, the sound warm and bright. “No need to be jealous. They’re my friends and family, and soon they’ll be yours too.”
