Faith stopped laughing, her curiosity piqued. “What is it?”
Garrick’s eyes darted around mischievously. “One hundred wheelchairs!” he said in a stage whisper. “They’re on their way now. The look on his face when they arrive is going to be priceless!”
Faith’s eyes widened. “Oh my god, Garrick, that’s just evil! A hundred wheelchairs? You’re basically wishing him a lifetime of being crippled at his own engagement party!”
Garrick puffed out his chest, looking proud. “Pretty brilliant, right?”
Faith gave him a thumbs-up. “Impressive.”
“It’s nothing.” Garrick yawned and stood up. “I’m getting tired of waiting. What’s taking them so long? Maybe his current wheelchair is a piece of junk. Looks like he really does need an upgrade. I’m going to go see what’s going on.”
He started toward the exit, but just as he stepped outside, he saw Haskell and Larissa approaching.
Haskell was dressed in a custom-made red suit jacket with white trousers and a white shirt. Larissa wore a hand-embroidered red gown that cinched at the waist, her makeup subtle and elegant.
Garrick immediately waved. “Haskell! Long time no see! Solomon and the others were just talking about you!”
Hearing his voice, all the young Palmers in the hall looked over.
“It has been a while,” Haskell said with a smile.
Larissa had already studied the family files and knew the man in his early twenties was Garrick, the younger son of the fourth branch—a notorious bully who loved playing pranks.
An idea struck Garrick, and he hurried over, his expression overly eager. “Haskell, let me get that for you.”
He forcefully pushed Crispin aside. “I’ll take it from here!”
