Immortal's Love Story novel Chapter 6

"It's my fault. Don't hurt the baby because of me."

"Dirty!" I pried his hand off, "Stephen, you are so dirty."

He looked at me in pain, "Honey, I'm sorry."

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, and my pants were soaked with a clear fluid. "It hurts."

When Stephen realized something was wrong, he turned pale and immediately scrambled to find a doctor.

The intense contractions and overwhelming fear made me lose consciousness.

As I was being pushed into the operating room, Stephen shouted to the doctor,

"Doctor, in any situation, save the mother, save the mother!"

But Stephen's words didn't move me at all. If he truly loved me, why did he betray me?

Just before the anesthesia took effect, I grabbed the doctor's hand, "Remember, save the baby. I don't matter."

The doctor reassured me, "Don't worry, both you and the baby will be fine."

But the reality was, neither I nor the baby survived.

"Amniotic fluid embolism, both the baby and the mother are gone. I'm sorry for your loss."

Stephen knelt on the ground, his head hanging low, tears dripping onto the floor. Then

he started to cry hysterically, banging his head against the white wall until it was stained with blood.

The doctors and nurses quickly rushed to restrain him, eventually giving him a sedative to calm him down.

My soul floated outside, watching his pain, but it no longer moved me.

Because my baby was dead.

My soul followed my body to the morgue.
