I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 816

Chapter 816 If You Don't Want It, We Won't Take It

If you don't want it, we won't take it. This was the attitude of the group as they discussed their next move.

They had come across a valuable item, but one member of the group expressed that they didn't feel comfortable taking it without permission. The others agreed and decided to leave it be.

It wasn't worth risking their integrity for a quick gain. They knew that in the long run, honesty and respect would serve them better than any material possession.

So they left the item behind and continued on their journey with clear consciences.

Yanis sat down at the dining table and said, "Just a simple meal." After that, she picked up her chopsticks and started eating. Although she had a good appetite, she couldn't enjoy the food as much because something was weighing on her mind. Zane noticed Yanis's change and asked, "What did you go out to get just now?" Yanis hesitated for a moment when she heard Zane's question before replying, "It's nothing. I just remembered that I left something in the store and need to go back tomorrow to find it."

"Yanis, are you..."

"Let's eat quickly. Later we'll take Bonnie to the hospital together; otherwise who knows what kind of trouble she'll get into by herself? She eats all sorts of random things," Yanis interrupted Zane before he could finish his sentence.

Zane swallowed his words and they finished their meal. After changing clothes and packing up their things, Yanis pulled Zane out of the door without saying much along the way. Her gaze remained fixed outside of the window as if lost in thought.

Zane called out her name several times before finally getting her attention: "What's wrong? Do you have something on your mind?"

Yanis shook her head: "Nope, I'm just thinking about something."

"You can't tell me?"

Yanis forced a smile: "Nope! It's my secret."

Zane looked at Yanis with an indescribable feeling in his heart - he wanted to say something but decided against it: "If there is anything bothering you we can solve it together."

Yanis responded with an affirmative sound but remained silent until they were almost at the hospital when suddenly turning towards Zane with a soft voice calling him by name: "Zane."

"What's up?" replied Zane.

"If... I mean if... if I don't want children... would you mind?"

When Zane heard this question from Yanis he glanced over at her face before asking again: "You don't want children?"

Yan nodded slowly while looking straight into his eyes then repeated herself once more.

"If that's what you truly want then we won't have any," said Zanes after pausing for several seconds.

Hearing this made Yan feel uneasy inside even though it was what she wanted deep down inside.

Yanis didn't know what to say when she opened her mouth to respond. In the end, she decided to remain silent. The car quickly arrived at the hospital, and Zane parked the car in a parking spot and turned off the engine. He reached out and held Yanis's hand in his own, saying, "Yanis, as long as you're by my side, nothing else matters."

"Well then why did you sound like that just now?" Phoebe paused for a moment before asking "Are you mistaking me for someone else? Did you not save my number?"

Zane drove out of the hospital while talking to Phoebe on the phone and asked her if there was something she needed.

"I'm at Deep in Dream. Do you want to come over?"

"Alone?" asked Zane.

"Who else would I be with? I need to talk to you about something. Will you come over here or should we talk on the phone instead?" whispered Phoebe.

"I know that you're home alone right now," said Phoebe softly. "Won't you come over? You really need to think things through regarding your wife."

Zane hesitated when he heard this but eventually agreed saying "I'll be there soon". He hung up and turned around at an intersection heading towards Deep in Dream.

On Yanis' side of things: after entering into Bonnie's hospital lobby, Yanis didn't go directly upstairs to her room but instead sat down in one of the waiting areas inside.

The events from earlier that evening left Yanis feeling uneasy. She had hoped that after all this time they would still feel some sort of tension between them so experiencing such a disconnect made her feel uneasy.

Although she had mentally prepared herself for this possibility beforehand, suddenly facing such a disparity made her feel uncomfortable especially when thinking about Old Mrs Lawrence's hopeful eyes which only added fuel onto an already burning fire inside her heart.
