After a while, Sienna also arrived at Quentin's villa.
Tessa and Sienna accompanied Naomi for the day at Quentin's place. They only went home after they had dinner together.
…
The next day, Stephen and Tessa went to the Yates residence.
When Samuel saw Stephen, his expression immediately darkened, clearly not pleased to see him there.
Stephen and Samuel entered Samuel's study—alone. With the door closed, Tessa was oblivious to whatever they were talking about. However, their conversation lasted a long time.
The door finally opened when it was about to be dinnertime, despite them having entered the study room at around 2:00 pm.
It was an excruciating wait for Tessa. Every second and every minute felt painfully long.
Stephen emerged from the room, wearing the same expression he had when he entered. However, Samuel's expression had eased considerably.
That was a good sign. It seemed like their talk had gone well.
"What did you say to my dad?" Tessa asked quietly after pulling him aside.
"We talked about a lot of things. We talked about James, Jacqueline, the collaboration between our families, and also some key projects that Yates Corporation needs. I'll tell you the details some other time," Stephen explained.
"So my dad isn't against us getting back together?" Tessa asked again.
Stephen lowered his voice and answered, "He's pretty much alright with it."
Tessa gave him a thumbs-up and smiled. "You're amazing."
"I'll head back for now, darling. I'll see you tomorrow," Stephen said as he gently pinched her cheeks.
"Tess, I won't be against your relationship with him. I was only against it because of all the suffering you endured at the hands of his family before.
"Tess, I just wish to see you happy. And since you've chosen Stephen, you two have my blessings."
It was a touching moment.
Tears pooled in Tessa's eyes as she was deeply touched by his words. She called out tearfully, "Dad."
"That brat, Stephen, is serious about you, and I saw his determination to be with you today. The two of you can walk down that path together, and I won't interfere anymore."
Tears streamed down her cheeks. "Dad, thank you."
Samuel smiled. "You're my daughter. There's no need to thank me."
