This wasn't the way back to The Thomas Group.
"We're going to the mall," Jonathan announced.
"The mall?" Niamh asked, confused.
True to his word, Jonathan drove into the parking garage of a shopping mall.
After crossing the overpass, they had entered a newly developed district of Aldenville.
The mall was new, and Niamh had never been here before.
"What did you bring me here for?"
"To buy some new clothes. That outfit isn't very practical."
At his words, Niamh glanced down at her dress.
She was still in the black formal gown from the opening ceremony, though she had taken off the yellow diamond necklace before meeting Jarrett.
"What's not practical about it? Are you planning to take me to run a marathon?"
Niamh's quip made Jonathan chuckle. "Not a marathon, but something else... and that dress definitely won't work."
He grabbed her hand and pulled her into the mall.
Frowning, Niamh yanked her hand away as soon as they were through the doors.
"Jonathan, please be mindful of your position."
Seeing her annoyance, Jonathan sheepishly withdrew his hand.
Though Niamh had no idea what he was up to, she followed him into a women's clothing store.
It wasn't just a boutique but a trendy streetwear brand.
Jonathan picked out two casual outfits for her. "Go try them on."
Niamh crossed her arms, giving him a baffled look. "Are you buying these for me?"
Jonathan shook his head with a smile. "My salary is barely enough to get by; I can't afford this brand."
Niamh was speechless.
The man had bought jewelry worth tens of millions but was now pleading poverty to her.
Taking the two outfits from him, Niamh went into the fitting room.
