"Oh my God! This is incredible news!" Evadne jumped up in sheer joy. It had been so long since they had something to celebrate. The news of Marilla's pregnancy swept away the heavy clouds that had loomed over them. "I'm going to tell everyone! I'm covering everything for this kid—food, clothes, everything! I'm officially claiming godmother status!" Jareth raised an eyebrow, pulling Marilla closer. "I can afford to raise my own kid, thanks. But I'll approve the godmother application." Marilla nodded, then blinked in confusion. "Wait. You're my sister-in-law. Wouldn't the baby just be your niece or nephew? If you're the godmother, won't the titles get confusing?" Everyone paused. Evadne thought about it. She was right. Jareth burst out laughing. "Who cares? If you can hold multiple titles at a corporation, you can hold multiple titles in a family." "Have you picked a name yet?" Chasel asked with a smile. Marilla shook her head. "Not yet. We don't even know if it's a boy or a girl." "We're waiting until the baby is born. Plus, we're hoping Hamilton will give the baby a name." Jareth looked at Marilla's stomach with pure anticipation. "He named Thaddeus and Marilla. I'd love it if he named our child, too." Jareth had no real family left. Marilla was the family he had chosen. He deeply respected Thaddeus's grandfather, so asking him to name the baby was a perfect fit. Evadne grinned. "That sounds wonderful. Whatever makes you two happy!" Cassius called a nurse in to properly bandage Chasel's finger, and the group caught up. The whole time, Cassius kept Chasel close, occasionally pinching his cheek or playing with his fingers. The absolute adoration in his eye was impossible to hide. "By the way, have you guys seen the news lately?" Jareth asked as he peeled an apple for Marilla. "The only prince of Helgen died of cancer a few days ago. The whole country is in mourning. The Emperor doesn't have any other sons, just Princess Stella. He wants to name a new heir, but the royal bloodline is practically empty. There aren't even any distant relatives to take the throne. The country is in chaos, and the royal family is fighting over the succession." Cassius realized something. "No wonder Debby and Darcy suddenly rushed back to Helgen." It was a massive political crisis. With Darcy serving as the President of Helgen, Evadne was naturally concerned. "The political landscape there is a minefield. The relationship between the Office of the President and the royal family is delicate. If this isn't handled perfectly, it could threaten Darcy's career and even his life." Chasel frowned. "Doesn't the royal family still have Princess Stella? Plenty of modern royal families have queens who are beloved by the people. They're just as capable as male heirs. Why not just put Stella on the throne? It seems simple enough." Jareth fed Marilla a slice of apple, looking like someone eager to share a massive scandal. "I heard a rumor. Just a rumor, so don't shoot the messenger."
