Dylan spoke hurriedly, "She looks like her mother, doesn't she? You always used to say that Ms. Evadne was a spitting image of her, from her temperament to her looks." Emeric frowned deeply. A sudden, splitting pain tore through his skull. He grabbed his head with both hands, gasping heavily. "Mr. Ashbourne!" Dylan could not bear to see him in such agony. "Stop thinking. It's okay. If you can't remember, let it go." Emeric kept his head down. His hands clenched the blanket over his knees tightly, his knuckles turning white as the veins on the back of his hands throbbed. "Dorothy..." he muttered the unforgettable name. "Mr. Ashbourne! That's her name! Do you remember her?" Dylan crouched beside Emeric, tears welling in his eyes. Dorothy Waverley was Evadne's mother's real name. It was also a name recorded in Helgen's top-secret files under charges of espionage and treason. She was a wanted fugitive, hunted by the royal family of Helgen to this day. After barely surviving her perilous escape, she was saved by Emeric. As days turned into months, Emeric fell deeply in love with this fugitive, knowing her presence risked bringing destruction upon the Ashbourne family. To completely sever ties with her past, Dorothy changed her name to Silvana and stayed by Emeric's side. She devoted herself to caring for him. Shedding the fierce demeanor of a royal official, she became gentle and incredibly attentive. Gradually, Emeric could not live without her. He even wanted to marry her. He wanted this, even knowing she did not love him. Inside the silver locket she wore around her neck was a miniature portrait of the Emperor of Helgen. The citizens of Helgen would have assumed it was a sign of her absolute devotion to the crown. But Emeric knew that the Emperor was the man she truly loved. Even in exile, enduring endless suffering, her love for him never wavered. To make matters more complicated, she was already pregnant with that man's children. Four healthy, active boys. As Dorothy's pregnancy progressed, Emeric finally got down on one knee before her. He gently touched her swelling belly and proposed with a burning sincerity in his eyes. "Dorothy, I want you to be my wife. As my wife, I can protect you better. You won't have to worry about dragging me down, and you don't have to worry that I won't accept the children. From now on, they are my sons. Your eldest will be the future heir of the Ashbourne family. I will do everything in my power to raise them with you." He did not care if her heart belonged to another man. He did not care if the babies were not his blood. He simply loved her. He loved her soul, and because of that, he willingly embraced everything about her. Eventually, she accepted his proposal. It was partly to secure a safe haven, but also to repay him for saving her life. They were married quietly, with no grand ceremony and no guests. From that day forward, whether she loved him or was just using him, he did not care. Just seeing her and the children every day made him incredibly happy. A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. "Dad." Evadne and Hubery walked into the hospital room. "Mr. Ashbourne, look who's back," Dylan said, his voice trembling as he stared at Hubery's face.
