However, his night vision was exceptional. While a normal person would be effectively blind in this pitch-black environment, he could easily make out the vague outlines of the structures around him.
The dead silence was unnerving.
Cassius scanned the perimeter, his eyes glinting with the lethal sharpness of a hunting panther. "Ian. I'm here. Show yourself."
Suddenly, a harsh clack echoed through the space.
A blinding, icy-blue spotlight dropped from the ceiling above.
Cassius snapped his head up, the blood instantly draining from his face.
"Chasel!"
Suspended high in the air was Chasel, covered in severe bruises and cuts. His wrists were bound by heavy iron shackles, the skin rubbed raw and bleeding. His head slumped forward; he was completely unconscious.
"Ian! You sick bastard!"
Cassius's eyes burned bright red as he roared into the empty space, teetering on the very edge of a total breakdown. "What did you do to him?! If Chasel dies... I will rip your heart out! I will tear you to pieces!"
"Hahahahaha... Yes! That's the cold, ruthless, unhinged Hex I remember. Buddhism never suited you anyway. Oh, my apologies, I forgot. You believe in God now."
Two more floodlights snapped on overhead.
Standing behind a catwalk railing dozens of feet above, Ian stared down at Cassius, trembling with hysterical laughter like a complete lunatic.
"Don't worry, your little sweetheart isn't dead. I just beat the absolute hell out of him. Left him with just enough breath to survive."
