A heavy silence filled the room. Since the incident and Cassius’s breakup with Chasel, everyone had felt a deep sense of loss, but they had carefully avoided mentioning Mr. Bright or their brother’s heartbreak. In truth, Evadne had proposed the second option precisely because she believed Chasel could be the key to turning the tables.
But where was he? After what happened, he had disfigured himself, grown to hate Cassius, and left without a second thought. Would he ever come back? How could they find him?
“Let’s think of another way,” Aaron said, shaking his head in defeat, knowing the sensitivity of his brother’s situation.
“I’ll find him.” Cassius closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, they were rimmed with a heart-wrenching shade of red. “I still have some old contacts in Country M. I’ll reach out to them and have them use their resources to search for Chasel. I don’t care what it takes—I won’t eat, I won’t drink, I won’t sleep. I will find him as fast as I possibly can.”
Arnold and Aaron watched their older brother, their hearts aching for his pain.
“We need to be quick. I’ll dispatch people from KS Group to help you in Country M. The longer we wait, the more complicated things will get,” Evadne said, setting aside formalities. She turned her serious gaze to Aaron. “Aaron, I’m going to need you to use your skills as a police officer.”
Facing the powerful presence of his sister, Aaron snapped to attention as if ready to salute. “No need to be formal with me. Just tell me what to do.”
“I need you to investigate Mr. Zade’s background—his work, his personal life, any family he has in Elmsworth. I need to know their personal details as well,” Evadne instructed, her eyes cold as ice.
Aaron blinked, a slow smile spreading across his face. “Oh, I see what you’re getting at.”
