His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 1087

Thaddeus’s fingers tightened around the doorframe, knuckles white, but he ignored her accusations and spoke in that same deep, steady voice.

“I just wanted to see you.”

“Then tell me—what are you to me now?”

Evadne’s eyes burned, her breath catching with a final shred of hope. “Are you here as a friend? A lover? An ex? Or… someone who just can’t let go?”

His gaze was dark, fathomless. “I don’t know.”

Looking at him—this man so impassive, so perfectly walled off—Evadne felt a wave of helplessness, a disappointment she couldn’t put into words.

“Well, you’ve seen me. You can leave now.”

But before she could finish, Thaddeus’s tall frame surged forward, forcing the door open with more strength than she expected. The sudden movement made her stumble back with a startled gasp.

Their faces were so close now, she could feel his breath.

“Let me go…” Her heart pounded as she struggled in his arms, but the hand at her waist only held her tighter. Each movement just drew her closer, making her look less like she was resisting and more like she was melting into him.

“I thought you said you were tired,” Thaddeus murmured, his breathing roughening. “You seem to have plenty of energy to me.”

Without another word, he scooped her up effortlessly and strode toward the hospital bed. “You hurt your leg. Don’t move around unless you want to make this your new home.”

Evadne’s eyes filled with unshed tears as she curled against his chest—pathetic, she thought, but she couldn’t help it. It was only a few steps, but part of her wished he would keep carrying her forever.

When Thaddeus finally set her gently down, he hesitated, his arms tensing as if he were holding back something he couldn’t name. The emptiness where she’d been seemed to ache, a sour longing twisting in his chest.

Suddenly, under the harsh light, something caught his eye.

At Evadne’s temple—two strands of silver, glaringly bright against her thick, glossy black hair.

He reached out in a flash and plucked one free.

“Ow! That hurts!” Evadne yelped, pressing a hand to the spot and glaring at him.

Evadne couldn’t hold back anymore. Eyes red, she slapped his hand away, the silver hair drifting to the floor.

“Thaddeus… I hate you. I really, really do!”

He frowned. “Why?”

“Because you’re not supposed to pull gray hairs! They’ll just come back worse!”

Her cheeks flushed, hands balled into tiny fists. “I’m only twenty-six and already stressed out enough to get gray hairs. It’s pathetic. I don’t want to end up like you, old before my time!”

Thaddeus stared at her—at her tear-bright eyes, her pouty lips, her adorable, indignant face.

Suddenly, his mind went blank and his breath caught.

He bent down, bracing one arm beside her head, and before he could even think to stop himself, his mouth found hers, sealing their words with a desperate, hungry kiss.
