Once Suzanne had calmed herself down, she picked up Austin's coat jacket and handed it to him. "Put it on."
He stopped teasing her and put on his jacket obediently. The jacket was not meant to be buttoned up when one was sitting down due to its tight-fitting tailoring.
Suzanne noticed Austin in his unbuttoned jacket. Somehow, he was sexier than when he was topless. She quickly retracted her gaze, started the car engine, and drove home.
He noticed every single one of her reactions. He smiled but said nothing.
The ride usually took 40 minutes, but Suzanne got them there in 30.
When they were home, Suzanne got out of the car and headed upstairs, about to take a shower. She stopped by the door of the bathroom and turned to look at Austin, who was just about to enter the bedroom. She said gently, "I'm going to take a shower. You should take a shower too."
Austin nodded. "Go ahead."
Suzanne was feeling exhausted. Her body was tense, so she filled the tub with water as she planned to take a bath. She added some lavender essential oil to the water before getting into the tub. Laying there quietly, she thought about everything that happened in the restaurant that evening.
Austin was truly protective of her. She would be lying if she said that she was not moved by him standing up for her.
She might be aloof, but she was not void of emotions. She knew well who was nice to her and who wasn't. Ever since they got married, Austin had been defending her and protecting her from trouble.
She felt like she had hit the jackpot after marrying him. Everything seemed perfect.
However, she knew what Austin wanted—for her to feel at ease being Mrs. Hall, for her to be his wife.
He had just taken a long flight from Azure City, then brought her out for dinner. Anyone would be exhausted.
He placed the book by the side table and waved at her. "I'm not. Come here."
He picked up the hair dryer next to him. He had been waiting for her just to help her dry her hair.
As the hot air blew her hair dry, Suzanne felt the warmth seep into her body as well. She was thoroughly moved by Austin's actions.
He was not a man of many words, but he had done so many things for her. She mustered up the courage and decided that they should consummate their marriage tonight.
