Suzanne gave a firm nod and said, "I'm ready."
She had waited far too long for this day.
Augustus shifted his gaze away from Suzanne and looked ahead at the Yates Corporation building. He said quietly, "Let's go."
Both of them strode toward the lobby.
Beyond the revolving glass doors, the Yates Corporation lobby featured Epean-style decor. A large teardrop-shaped crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, reflecting dazzling lights.
As Augustus and Suzanne stepped into the busy lobby, they immediately drew the attention of those around them.
The receptionist looked up at Augustus and immediately greeted him respectfully, "Good morning, Mr. Frost. They've asked you to head to the conference room for the shareholders' meeting."
Augustus ignored her and led Suzanne straight into the elevator.
Once the elevator doors slid shut, Suzanne arched an eyebrow. With a mocking smile playing on her lips, she said, "These people are quite well-informed. They knew I was coming and had already set up a trap for me."
How afraid were they of her reclaiming Yates Corporation?
And yet, here she was.
Worried that she might be nervous, Augustus reassured her, saying, "Don't be afraid. I'm here."
Suzanne was still just a young woman in Augustus' eyes. It would be normal for her to feel intimidated in the face of such a big battle. Yet what he didn't notice was the calmness in Suzanne's eyes. It was as if nothing could faze her.
…
In the spacious conference room, gold tones dominated three walls. They were also adorned with diamond-shaped mirrored tiles. The decor highlighted the futuristic elements of the jewelry design company.
Suzanne was hardly bothered. She simply stood there, her eyes calmly scanning everyone's reaction.
Finally, her gaze landed on Henry, and she caught every bit of the malice flashing in his eyes. He wouldn't be arrogant for much longer.
Augustus' sharp gaze turned to George as he said firmly, "She's the eldest daughter of the Yates family and the future heiress of Yates Corporation. What's wrong with her heading the design department?"
If it weren't for Suzanne insisting on winning over these old fools first, he would have already made her the executive vice president of Yates Corporation.
There wouldn't be a need to listen to their endless complaining. They simply didn't know their place!
But no one cared what Augustus thought. One after another, voices of dissent filled the room, which only made the atmosphere grow increasingly tense.
Henry's eyes gleamed with cold amusement as he stood up. He maintained a polite smile as he tried to mediate. "We're all working together here, so let's not make it so awkward."
