In the apartment, Camryn and Marshall stood in the corner and stared squarely at Shannon on the couch. She wasted no time with them and cut to the chase. "You guys have seen the hot topics online, haven't you?"
While asking, she noticed the confusion in their eyes and subsequently saw the smashed phones on the floor. After a brief silence, she went up and pulled up the trending list on the computer for them to view.
The malfunctioning computer sprang to life at her touch. Soon, the two saw their selfie and screenshots on the screen. Ignoring their fear, they quickly read the content and comments section.
The more they read, the uglier their expressions became. Camryn, in particular, paled visibly. He saw everything—his personal information, Mandy's clarification, as well as his ultimate secret being exposed.
He was seriously doomed this time.
Camryn gazed resentfully at Shannon. "Did you… or did you not do this?"
"You can say I did." Shannon was unfazed by his hostile gaze, continuing, "The Cybersecurity Department will be issuing a statement about tonight's incident soon. Before things get worse, I'll need you to remove the posts."
Her tone turned solemn as she looked at Marshall. "So, hurry up and get to it."
Camryn was taken aback by her sudden twist in the end, while Marshall subconsciously pointed at himself. "Me?"
She nodded. "You were the one who made the trending topic to guide the online criticism toward me, weren't you? Since you have that kind of skill, you should remove the posts while you're at it."
Camryn's face twitched at her words and darkened immediately. "You're the one who did this! Shouldn't you be cleaning after the mess?"
With the Jensen family's influence, it would be a walk in the park to take down the posts. Why was she asking them to do it instead?
Shannon looked at Camryn with a cold gaze. "That's what I'm doing now."
At that moment, the doorbell rang. Shannon raised her hand calmly and said, "Oh, that's for us."
With that, she stood up and went to open the door.
Seeing her attitude, Camryn and Marshall thought she wasn't that bad. After the shock and all the frantic work they'd endured tonight, she had even ordered takeout for them.
Since Shannon hadn't shown any anger or condemnation toward them since entering, they subconsciously chose to forget about the earlier haunting incident, believing she was likely trying to bury the hatchet.
At that thought, Camryn suddenly no longer felt pain thinking about the money he spent earlier. Given her agreeable demeanor, he planned to ask her to convince Caleb to waive the two-million-dollar compensation once they were done with the takeout.
Then, Shannon opened the door.
