Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 870

In a VIP ward, Caleb sat on the bed and finished a phone call before looking over at Hector sitting by the side.

"Hector, I've spoken to my lawyer. He'll take care of those two to ensure that the woman won't stir up more trouble."

Hector lounged casually by the bed as his tablet displayed the livestream from Sixth Sense. On the screen, Shannon sat in a car and introduced the audience to the sights of Seastone.

"That's good," Hector replied, shifting his gaze from the screen to Caleb.

He turned to Caleb with a smile and said, "Though you've often been misguided when it comes to Cecily, we believe you can handle things properly. Above all, we don't want the Jensen family's reputation tarnished… especially not Shannon's.

"You've damaged her reputation once, so let's keep her out of this mess this time. Don't you think so?"

Though Hector was smiling and had a cheerful tone, each word felt like a stab in Caleb's chest.

He could tell that Hector must be doing it on purpose. Or else, why would he bring Cecily up out of nowhere when they were talking about him being a victim?

"You're right."

But Caleb couldn't hold back a grumble and added, "Still, Hector, Shannon openly denied being my sister in front of everyone in her livestream. Aren't you going to say anything to her about that?"

Caleb knew he'd made mistakes, but he'd been working to improve. The way Shannon had disassociated herself from him felt embarrassing in public and reflected poorly on their family.

Hector's eyes gleamed with amusement as he raised an eyebrow and countered, "Is there anything wrong with what she said?"

"Plus, you mean so much to me. I'll take full responsibility no matter what happens. Don't worry, you won't have to suffer alongside me."

Dixie was overwhelmed with gratitude by Luther's thoughtfulness even at that point. When comparing Luther to Caleb's coldness, she realized that though the former didn't have Caleb's resources and was even married, he genuinely loved her…

For the first time in her life, she felt truly cared for.

"Luther, please don't say that. I caused this entire situation, so I'll face it with you. Don't worry about the money. My family should be able to scrape it together."

The Hanes did not love her and would just provide her with money. In that case, she figured she wouldn't need their love either.
