Caleb decided to earn extra money from the stock market.
That day, he had finished a luncheon with a few of his friends and suddenly thought of the grievances Ziva endured at the party. Out of pity, he bought some sweets and went to the mall to check in on her.
To his surprise, he was blocked in his way by the same person once again—Dixie.
Since their last encounter, she had been sick for two days and received Luther's diligent care the whole time. Despite that, she was reluctant.
As much as Luther was a kind and caring man, he was, at the end of the day, still a married man. Whether it was looks or family background, he was far behind Caleb.
Dixie wasn't a gold-digger per se; she simply wanted a romantic relationship. Caleb just happened to be the ideal partner in her ideal relationship. Therefore, she appeared before him once again to give him another chance.
"It's so good to see you here, Caleb. I'm sorry for troubling you the other day. I did it simply for the sake of my work. You'd understand that, wouldn't you?"
Dixie vowed not to mention how he coldly rejected her out of the car, continuing, "When I looked back on it, I realized my actions had been too abrupt. I wanted to apologize to you the next day, but I don't have your contact number.
"Besides, I got sick after the rain and only got better today."
Caleb had been displeased since the moment she came up to him and started blabbering about herself. When hearing how she had fallen sick, he instinctively took a step back, vividly remembering how Shannon mentioned those with stolen fortune would get sick easily.
He was afraid Dixie would infect him.
"I believe I was clear that day. I have no interest in your work, so please stop showing up before me." Caleb was cold and added, "Besides, we're not close. So, don't call me by my name in the future."
With that, he was ready to leave with his petite cake.
Dixie, feeling aggrieved, sobbed even harder upon hearing the passersby defending her. At that moment, everyone cast a condemning look at Caleb.
Caleb laughed out of exasperation. He minded his business, but that woman had to show up out of nowhere and started tugging at him. How was it his fault when he merely pointed out that she dirtied his pants?
At that point, it felt like he needed to pray and do good deeds every day before leaving the house to avoid running into such a jinx!
With no plan to further engage with his unlucky woman, he turned around and prepared to leave.
Right then, Luther emerged from the crowd. He saw the weeping Dixie and Caleb's stained pants and instantly grasped the situation. Furious, he charged at Caleb and shouted, "How could you do this to her?"
Other than shouting at someone he had never met without hearing both sides of the story, he also swung his fist toward Caleb…
