While chatting, Luther and Dixie arrived at the hotel. As promised, he left after dropping her off at the lobby.
However, that night, she ran a fever due to catching a cold from the rain and called Luther amid her daze. Almost instantly, he showed up to her room with a bag of medicine. Then, she found out he had booked a room next to her out of worry for her safety.
Following that, he looked after her the entire night and even bought her soup the next morning. After that night, her heart slowly swayed toward Luther…
…
Caleb was unaware of Dixie's situation after he left; neither would he care even if he found out. Strangely, when he headed out the next day and ran into Shannon, he found her staring at him.
He became anxious at her stare. "W-What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"
At that, Shannon withdrew her gaze and answered, "No reason. Just wanted to remind you that a week has passed, and you still owe me five million and 80 thousand dollars."
The corner of his lips tugged awkwardly. "Relax. It's just five million dollars. I can easily earn that amount."
He would never give her a chance to look down on him. He was confident he could earn five million dollars even without returning to the company.
Shannon nodded noncommittally, then casually reminded, "And take the shielding talisman with you at all times. You should use it since you've paid for it."
Caleb pursed his lips, wanting to refute that he had always brought it with him but didn't want Shannon to get cocky. Thus, he pretended to be annoyed and said, "Alright, alright."
Shannon stayed silent briefly and clarified, "It's not her."
The dull pink energy—the color of bad love luck—seemed to have intensified since last night. It was more likely that the person was the woman he met after the party.
With that said, whoever he met or whatever he would encounter was… none of her business. The shielding talisman would protect him anyway.
In the following two days, Caleb obediently carried the shielding talisman Shannon provided him and didn't seek out Ziva again. Instead, he focused on making money.
Earning five million wasn't difficult for him; with just one investment, he could easily get the money back in no time. Although he had a few investments, they were all minor ones, and it was yet time to recoup those funds.
