Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 757

Macey continued rambling about her son marrying a new wife after Quilla died. The new wife would be a local university student from a wealthy family.

According to Macey, the family of the new wife didn't care much for her. They only gave her money but never showed real concern.

Her son worked in the same office as this lady. When he saw that she was sick one day, he made her some congee. The simple act of kindness led to the lady falling in love with him.

When she found out he was a widower with a chaotic life, she frequently visited to help out. Then, they slowly got close.

The lady's family opposed the relationship, but the lady was firm. She even stole her birth certificate just to register her marriage with Macey's son.

Macey felt quite proud as she recounted this. It proved her son to be quite capable.

She was pleased with the lady too. Though the latter was a little naive, Macey figured she was better to be dealt with that way.

The lady's wealthy parents would likely provide financial support to make sure their daughter wouldn't suffer and reduce her son's burden. Maybe they could move out of the old neighborhood and into a bigger house.

Macey was just getting the hang of controlling the lady when the system chose her. But she didn't hesitate to agree since being able to move was more tempting than manipulating her daughter-in-law.

Yet, the unreliable system failed her. Not only had she been struck by lightning, but she also couldn't return to her original body and was now at Shannon's mercy.

To make matters worse, Quilla in this world didn't die, so her son couldn't remarry. This thought filled her with resentment.

Shannon listened to Macey's long-winded story and realized the situation was more complicated than she'd initially thought. The existence of another world was something she hadn't anticipated.

Macey responded matter-of-factly, "She's my daughter-in-law, and she deserves to die if she dares show me attitude. Taking care of me and attending to all my needs is her duty, isn't it?"

Leah was utterly speechless. Macey was an old tyrant, and she was worse than some of the old ladies in Leah's clan.

Macey continued ranting. "She's neglected her duties! Instead of staying home and serving us, she always wants to work. Would men have targeted her if she didn't run around that much?

"Perhaps she might've been flirting with all the other men, and that's why the killer singled her out. Why else would he have chosen her out of all people?"

Shannon had had enough at this point. She looked at Leah and said, "Make her shut up."

Leah readily agreed to it. "Sure thing!"
