"Why don't we ask for Shannon's advice?"
Alex's words rendered Linda at a loss for words again. "Did he plan this with our daughter or what?" she thought.
"I thought you didn't believe in stuff like that." She glanced at him, but due to her weakened state, the look felt insubstantial.
As his wife, she knew he didn't believe in mystic arts at all. After all, he was the first to oppose Shannon attending mystic school back then.
Even after the family came to learn about her capabilities and accepted the existence of mystic arts, he continued to believe she was a crooked sorcerer. That was why he never became close to Shannon.
With that being said, he was willing to ask Shannon to help with Linda, as the latter had been unlucky lately.
"It's the weekend tomorrow. I'll tell Adam about it and have Shannon take a look at you," Alex said, ready to follow through with his words.
Linda's countenance shifted, and she hastily stopped him. "Don't!"
His hand, holding the phone, stopped mid-air, and he looked strangely at her. Knowing she had overreacted, she softly explained, "Adam went on a business trip yesterday. Let's not trouble him and Shannon, okay? Besides, I have work tomorrow. Shannon won't see me anyway."
Alex's frown deepened. "You're still thinking about that variety show in this state? I'll cancel it for you. Don't worry; they won't give you a hard time with me around."
Linda became flustered when he wanted to cancel her appearance. How could he kill the opportunity she had anticipated for so long?
She disregarded her frailness and got down from the bed. Feeling her limbs go weak, she fell to the ground the next second. Luckily, a thick, velvet carpet covered the floor, preventing her from scraping her skin.
"Fine. You can do it." The least he could do was arrange for two assistants to follow her closely and ensure her safety.
Receiving his concession, Linda burst into a bright smile and hugged him affectionately. Alex reciprocated the hug, and unbeknownst to him, a hint of disdain appeared in her eyes as she leaned against his plump belly.
Among all three Jensen brothers, Adam and Adrian had maintained a great physique; especially the former, who looked like a handsome man 20 years younger than his actual age. Meanwhile, Alex had been gaining no muscle and plenty of fat.
Linda could at least admire his face in the past. Now, there was nothing to admire. The more she compared the brothers, the more reluctant she was to let go of Adam.
At that moment, she became firm in her plan. As for being unlucky… Well, she didn't mind enduring it.
