Shannon swiftly turned around and peered at the surrounding mountains. "Who is it?"
Who spoke? It sounded like a whisper, and her question was left unanswered.
Confident that she wasn't hallucinating, she deduced the campus was the issue here.
The campus rules stated that students were not allowed to have ghost pets. The specific rule was created because someone had set a precedent.
So… Did that mean someone had a ghost pet on campus before, and the ghost had been lingering since?
Shannon thought that was the most probable explanation. She would've ignored it if it were an ordinary ghost, but the fact that they uttered the last name, Wynthorpe, made her want to confront it.
…
While a new mission occupied Shannon's mind, Linda's incident was soon thrown to the back of her mind.
In the following week, Linda had been utterly unlucky, to say the least. She was so unfortunate that she would even feel pain in her gums while drinking cold water.
"Mommy, I think something's wrong with you."
In the bedroom, Linda lay on the bed like a frail patient with an ice pack on her forehead while Eva lay beside her. Her big, round eyes stared squarely at her, and she came to the conclusion earlier.
Linda was exasperated with her daughter. There was nothing wrong with her except that she was sick!
To her dismay, Shannon seemed to have seen through her since the beginning. Regardless of whether she was nice or rude to her, Shannon remained the same, acting just as difficult to please as Hector.
At last, she gave up attempting to be Shannon's mother figure. Yet, Shannon became friendly with Eva instead.
Linda used to sneer at Scott for "turning a new leaf" and acting like a puppy around Shannon. However, Eva had become the new Scott. To that, Linda was rather displeased.
Speechless by Eva's "kind advice", Linda subsequently saw Alex entering the room. He purposefully left work early to see her after hearing she was sick.
Looking at her face, he scrunched his brows and finally said something.
