When Adam started seeing Benjamin as Shannon's boyfriend, he could find fault in every aspect.

First, the age difference—Benjamin had to be at least eight years older than Shannon. So, he was way too old.

His personality was too cold, and his OCD was a little out of hand. He didn't seem like the type who'd show affection.

As for his appearance, Adam had to admit that Benjamin had stunning looks. When the latter stood next to Shannon, they did make a striking pair.

"When did you and Shannon start dating?" Adam asked. His tone was less polite now that Benjamin had come forward as Shannon's boyfriend. The possibility of Benjamin lying did not even cross his mind.

Cecily would also never consider the probability that this might be some ruse to get Shannon out of the situation either. No one could persuade Benjamin to act in a charade like this after all.

Hank couldn't resist interjecting. "I knew that."

He had been there, and he'd wondered how the two of them had ended up crossing paths.

Adam gave Hank a glance. Then, Benjamin continued, "And before that, she helped me with a small favor too."

Scott immediately raised his hand. "I knew that!"

Again, Adam was speechless. So, there had been signs, but as a father, he had been completely unaware.

After cases of helping each other out, Shannon and Benjamin had naturally gotten closer after frequent contact.

Adam started reflecting on his shortcomings, feeling frustrated and introspective.
