By the time Hector brought Shannon home, it was already nighttime. Strangely, they saw all their family members present in the living room.
Shannon dismissed the possibility of it being a welcome-home party, especially when she saw Alex and Annalise. Immediately, she knew something huge had dawned… or perhaps someone important.
As though grasping the situation, Hector quickly took out his phone, intending to read the group chat message he had ignored earlier. Right then, he heard a familiar voice. "Hey, you're back."
Hector and Shannon simultaneously looked up and saw Cecily pushing Marie over in her wheelchair.
Caleb, who was initially dispatched to Rivernray, had now returned and was standing next to Cecily, looking rather awkward and downcast.
Marie was around the same age as George. Although she was sitting in a wheelchair, she remained particular about her elegant appearance. She seemed gentle with Hector but turned somewhat skeptical when faced with Shannon.
By then, Shannon had guessed the person's identity. The next second, she heard Hector softly addressing her, "Grandma. When did you come back?"
"Just this afternoon. Cecily missed me and came to pick me up from the sanatorium." Her face was full of smiles as she tugged Cecily's hand from the wheelchair handle, looking affectionate.
Cecily reciprocated her smile, her voice tender. "What can I do? I missed you."
Marie quickly sensed her impoliteness. She was about to say something when she saw a white ball of fluff in a floral dress darting over and climbing up Shannon's leg without warning.
Stunned, Shannon quickly carried Marshmallow up, her habitual movements startling Marie.
At the sight of a chubby fox, Marie widened her eyes so much that her disdain became unmissable. Suddenly, Shannon recalled from back then that Marie disliked pets with fur. As such, she reflexively took a step back with Marshmallow.
The other Jensens in the living room couldn't help but take a deep breath. After all, they didn't have time to prepare for her sudden return.
