Before heading to Seastone, Winona had asked the doctors to inject a large amount of anesthetic into her legs.
This would ensure she didn't feel the pain from her immobile legs during the trip, but the excessive use of anesthetic also damaged the nerves in her body. But would that matter?
Once Winona switched back to her body, Bonnie's condition would no longer concern her. If Bonnie ended up with partial paralysis or permanent nerve damage, it would be the result of her own actions.
…
Shannon raised her name and cast a silencing spell on Bonnie, perhaps finding her screaming and cursing too annoying.
Triston, standing nearby, raised his eyebrow in surprise.
After telling Ethan to take Bonnie to the car, he turned to Shannon with a smile.
"By the way, I graduated from Seastone School of Mystic Arts too, so I guess I'm your senior."
Shannon looked at him silently. The look in her eyes seemed to ask, "And so?"
Triston cleared his throat. He dropped the pretense and asked, "Are you interested in joining the Security Agency? I can refer you, and you won't have to wait for the school to assign you to us after graduation."
This thought had crossed his mind ever since he learned she had handled the wealth-generating stake ritual and vessel transfer cases, but he hadn't had the chance to meet her.
And given her young age, the agency suggested observing her for a while longer.
But after seeing Shannon in action during Episode 4 of the entertainment program and witnessing her ability to soul-switch today, Triston felt it was necessary to extend the invitation now.
He figured that if someone was accepted into the mystic school, they wouldn't reject an opportunity to work with the National Security Agency.
To his surprise, Shannon rejected him without hesitation. "I'm not interested."
Triston was in charge of Seastone after all, and having him as a contact could prove useful when she needed to run errands from the Security Agency.
Unaware that he was being labeled as an errand runner, Triston left feeling satisfied after obtaining her number.
He escorted the group back to the city and knew that the couple was not just there for Shannon but also to thank a phantom cultivator in the district.
Through their conversation, Triston learned that the phantom cultivator had gained quite a reputation online in Seastone. He was driven by curiosity to follow the group to a villa where they were set to meet her.
As they arrived at the villa, the first thing he noticed was the assortment of snacks and treats piled up at the entrance.
Fancy coffee, fried chicken, pork ribs, Coke, Sprite, and even iced beer…
The phantom cultivator was having better meals than he did!
