Although Hank presented a rather aloof demeanor to the public, he had quite a few personal hobbies, one of which was collecting emerald carvings.
Even though it sounded a bit old-fashioned, he genuinely had a deep appreciation for antiques and fine craftsmanship.
Upon seeing the emerald pendant Rachel showed in the previous episode, Hank immediately recognized the carving style. He had initially asked Shonnon to consign the pendant to his friend's emerald shop as a way to probe her and ascertain her connection to Rosalie.
He hadn't expected that instead of extracting information, he would find himself inexplicably silenced by her.
It was clear that Shannon had a bad temper.
Therefore, instead of beating around the bush, he decided to cut to the chase and ask directly.
Upon hearing him talk about "Rosalie" with such deference, Shannon merely regarded him with her innocent-looking eyes.
She suddenly had this inexplicable urge to tell him the truth. She was certain that his expression would be one for the ages.
However, that thought only flitted through her mind for a moment before she quickly suppressed it. She had chosen to stay hidden to avoid trouble before, and now, if she were to reveal herself, she would undoubtedly have to deal with a whole host of problems.
Moreover, Hank didn't seem like the type of person who could keep a secret.
With that in mind, Shannon's face hardened. She simply accepted her identity as Rosalie's apprentice and said, "Why should I introduce you to her?"
She merely posed a simple question, but Hank took it as a challenge. "I'm your cousin. What's the harm in a simple introduction? What? Are you afraid I'll try to take your mentor away from you?"
"Who knows? You might actually do it."
Hank was rendered speechless.
Aside from the pieces she had occasionally made for herself, she had never taken on custom orders.
"Ms. Rosalie doesn't take on custom pieces, and her schedule may not allow for it. You might want to look for someone else to take on your order."
As Shannon turned to leave, Hank blocked her path, his voice laced with irritation. "Why are you being so petty, Shannon? It's not like I haven't been punished for what I said to you before. You silenced me, remember? And now you won't even help me with a simple request?"
Shannon could tell from Hank's menacing stare that he was upset.
After considering for a moment, she took out her phone and began typing away. Before long, a WhatsApp notification chimed.
Shannon then flashed her phone screen in Hank's face and said, "I've asked Ms. Rosalie, and she refused."
Hank was at a loss for words. Could she be lying to him?
