Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2395

"Do you know how long I've waited for you? None of you is willing to save or help me, so do you have to stop me now that I'm finally having the chance to do it?"

Each word tore from Gus' throat, hoarse and ragged with years of buried pain. It was no longer just a cry—it was the release of everything he had held in for so long.

On the ground, Maureen stirred at the sound of his anguished voice. Her bloodied face was almost unrecognizable, but through the haze and pain, she caught sight of the knife in his hand.

She couldn't lift herself, as her body was too broken. But even so, she reached out, trembling fingers stretching toward the blade.

Gus had thought she was trying to stop him, but Zidane, watching from the shadows, saw through the broken remnants of her soul. For a flicker of a moment, her eyes were clear.

She wasn't trying to stop him; she was trying to do it for him.

Now that things had reached this point, Zidane had already made up his mind.

"It doesn't matter whether I take the job or not," he said calmly. "You clearly can't afford the price I'd ask. I only came to tell you that the order is cancelled."

Gus' eyes reddened again. "What do you want? Whatever it is, I'll give it to you as long as I have it!"

"You can't," Zidane responded flatly. "But… If you can wait just another day, I can offer you another way—one that might actually save your mother."

"What is it?" Gus impatiently asked.

"You'll find out tomorrow."

With that, Zidane turned around without another word, leaving Gus behind, and left with Mordecai.

Mordecai walked alongside him, surprised. "I thought you were going to help him."

Zidane glanced at him. "Mystic does not accept killing missions. Neither am I a murderer."

He hadn't lied, though. Indeed, he intended to give Gus another option.

While hiding in the house earlier, he had already noticed the discarded mobile phone tucked in a dark corner, likely left behind by some wandering mystic master or phantom cultivator, abandoned in the mountains long ago.

The reason Gus had been able to access MysticApp likely had to do with how Zidane had earlier used a special mystic network to connect with every device carrying both the app and spiritual energy.
