Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2108

Hearing Shannon's sudden remark, Trevaris, who'd been snuggling affectionately against the egg, tilted his head.

What was wrong?

Benjamin calmly said, "If things had followed the natural timeline, Velquin would've been born safely even without our interference."

Otherwise, he wouldn't have met Velquin three thousand years later.

The same realization struck him as it did Shannon. Though they'd saved the phoenix egg, the truth remained that he, Shannon, and Trevaris were variables in this timeline.

Their appearance shouldn't have affected the natural course of events, let alone something as crucial as the birth of a phoenix.

As a child with no ancestral memory, Trevaris looked confused. He timidly asked, "What does that mean?"

Couldn't they save the phoenix egg?

Shannon explained, "It means that even without us, someone in this timeline should have sensed the egg was in danger and saved it."

That person might have sensed the phoenix egg's presence after they'd removed the isolation spell around the chamber.

Just as Shannon guessed, thousands of miles away, a man with an icy, regal bearing slowly opened his eyes. His gaze drifted toward the distant royal city of Celestria beyond the cave.

He stood up as if to walk out.

Just as he reached the entrance of the cave, a silhouette appeared against the sunlight. The figure was slender, graceful, and clearly female.

Though the backlight hid her face, the ten fox tails behind her swayed and stood out vividly.

"Where are you going?"

Back at the hidden chamber, just as Shannon and Benjamin processed everything, an indescribable pressure descended from the sky.

Still perched on the phoenix egg, Trevaris shivered violently in his flames.

Shannon instinctively shoved the egg, about the size of her forearm, into Benjamin's embrace. Then, she turned sharply toward the door with a guarded look in her eyes.

The birds all around them seemed to have gone silent. Snow had begun to drift gently from the sky.

When Shannon opened the door, she saw two figures standing in the snow-covered courtyard. The palace servants and guards around them had vanished without a trace, and the once-chaotic Ignis residence had gone silent.

It seemed as if all the world and noise had disappeared.

Shannon recognized the scene. There were only two possibilities—either the two had somehow moved everyone else into another domain, or she and Benjamin had been drawn into a different domain altogether.

If it were the former, the two visitors were extremely dangerous.
