Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2107

Shannon asked Solvanna if the "phoenix", Leif, had ever asked anything of her while he was protecting her, or if he'd ever let her see his true form.

It wasn't until this final question that Solvanna finally said something Shannon had been hoping to hear.

"Yes. O' Trueflame said his true form isn't complete, so he could only remain in flame form by my side. I was tasked with nurturing his true form."

Shannon's eyes sharpened as she asked, "Where's this true form?"

Without the slightest resistance, Solvanna led them to a rockery behind her courtyard. "There's a hidden chamber here. O' Trueflame's true form is inside."

As she spoke, she stepped forward to open the door.

Handing her off to the guards, Benjamin accompanied Shannon down into the hidden chamber.

Though called a chamber, it was no more than ten feet wide. The walls were lined with spells designed to suppress a phoenix's presence.

A low altar stood at the center. On it, there was a bed made of Onyx Gemgrove branches, and a fiery red phoenix egg lay on it.

"...An egg?"

Shannon started to wonder if she was seeing things.

"It's a phoenix egg," Benjamin said.

After a pause, he added, "From its presence, it's Velquin's phoenix egg."

Shannon was utterly baffled. Back when she'd first awakened in Serelith's body, she'd realized this wasn't three thousand years ago. Instead, it was far earlier in the Celestrium Concord, a time unrecorded in history.

Even so, she hadn't expected that after all these thousands of years, Velquin, whom they'd been searching for, hadn't been born yet.

Trevaris tilted his head and thought about it. After a moment, he suppressed his cravings and nodded. He flew from the egg to Leif and aggressively ripped off the remaining wing.

Instead of slurping down the power himself, he allowed the wing to revert to its original power of phoenix and gently transferred it to the phoenix egg.

The phoenix egg sensed power from its source and absorbed it. Now, its once dim shell shimmered anew with light.

Feeling the gradually strengthening presence of the phoenix egg, Shannon let out a breath of relief. If they hadn't exposed Leif and found the egg in time, Leif might have drained the egg just a little longer.

If that happened, the phoenix egg would become nothing more than a dead shell. The phoenix in the egg might never get the chance to be born.

Now, they had, in a way, saved Velquin.

The thought had barely formed when Shannon stiffened. She recalled something, and her expression grew grave. "No… Something's wrong…"
