Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2087

Aurelia's grudge deepened with each passing day she laid eyes upon him.

Though her death was recent, her rage had already gathered strength with unnatural speed. She had returned for one reason alone—vengeance.

When Aurelia, speaking through Marcellus' voice, recounted the events that led to her death, not a soul in the room dared utter a word.

The servants who had followed Elysia fell silent, dread tightening their throats.

However, her face darkened immediately. Without a moment's pause, she snapped, "Silence your lies! My son is not that kind of man!"

She believed Marcellus might be reckless, but would never do things to harm another's life. Not to mention, Aurelia ended her life of her own will. What did that have to do with him?

With eyes brimming with tears, Aurelia harshly refuted, "He is! The son you've raised is nothing but a cold-blooded beast!"

Elysia's face turned ashen, and beside her, Maeric wore much the same expression.

Yet, as the head of the family, he could not possibly admit that his eldest son had stained the family's honor—not in a room full of witnesses, at least.

With a rigid expression, he stated coldly, "If there was truth to your tale, why would the magistrate ignore your pleas? The court issued no verdict, which means my son bears no guilt.

"You fell into disgrace by your own hand, so do not drag his name through the mire!"

At his words, Aurelia's expression contorted with fury. The air around her darkened, her grudge manifesting in waves that pulsed visibly through the room.

She screamed at him, over and over, voice raw with pain, "I did not! It was him! He ruined me!"

Maeric didn't spare her another glance. He turned to Gideon and said, "Master, please put this spirit to rest and bring my son back."

How disappointing that these were their true colors? As Shannon had said, people like them didn't deserve her longing.

Due to the contract, Shannon could vividly feel Serelith's lingering attachment crumbling at that very moment. Still, it wasn't the time to be concerned about that.

Shannon turned to Aurelia, who similarly gazed at her. From her expression, it was obvious that the latter was comforted by the former's words.

Maeric, on the other hand, was stunned by Shannon's audacity. Although he had heard about his daughter's recent peculiar behavior, he couldn't help but feel provoked.

"What did you say? I'm your father, you ungrateful, defiant wretch!"

Shannon and Serelith met Maeric's seething gaze—one with her usual calm, the other with a newfound resolve that no longer flinched beneath his wrath.

Then, with voices strangely in unison, they uttered, slowly and clearly, "I would rather be without a father like you."
