Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2086

Gideon was appalled to see someone halting his instrument that had already shot through the air and toward the target. What was more surprising was that the person was just a young woman.

"Who are you?" he questioned Shannon with furrowed brows. "What rules of mystic arts?"

To him, his protocol was to annihilate any spirits and demons he came across.

Shannon's hand maintained the mudra, the mystic chain tightly binding the astrolabe.

Upon hearing his words, she simply responded with a casual "Oh," and added, "Well, consider it my rule."

With a swift motion, she shifted her mudra, and the astrolabe was suddenly yanked from Gideon's grasp by the mystic chain, flying into her hand.

The astrolabe, clearly attuned to its master, began to tremble violently in her grip, as though trying to break free.

Irritated by the sudden loss of his instrument, Gideon smirked upon seeing the astrolabe struggling in Shannon's hands. He noticed she was almost losing her grip on it and couldn't help but sneer.

"I see you're also a mystic, young lady. Surely, you must know that once an instrument has attuned itself to its owner, you will find it nearly impossible to control. Return it at once, or it may harm you."

Shannon listened to Gideon's words and felt the astrolabe growing more restless in her hands. She was growing increasingly frustrated.

Without hesitation, she released her hand from the mudra and slapped the restless instrument sharply, warning, "Be still!"

Seeing the astrolabe treated so roughly, Gideon was filled with a mix of disbelief and fury.

He was about to scold her when, to his astonishment, the instrument that had been moving erratically gradually settled down. Within moments, it was calm and obedient in Shannon's grasp.

Gideon was stunned. She hadn't just broken his precious astrolabe, had she?

Seeing the astrolabe finally settle down, Shannon no longer spared him a glance. Instead, her attention turned to the ghost still possessing Marcellus.

The female ghost had already resigned herself to being exorcised into dust today, but the unexpected interference had caught her off guard.

Harboring an old grudge against the young gentleman, Marcellus seized the opportunity for vengeance.

He orchestrated Aurelia's ruin—first robbing her of her dignity, then arranging for her to be married off to a widower notorious for having beaten two previous wives to death.

When she resisted, he spread vicious rumors that she did more than sing… that she peddled herself in back rooms and alleyways.

The lie took root quickly. Their livelihood vanished. Neighbors turned on them, hurling slurs and stones.

Drunken lowlifes came banging on their door at all hours. Her grandfather, trying to protect her, fell and broke his leg.

Desperate, Aurelia turned to the authorities, but her cries were met with silence. With no hope left, she took her own life.

Her spirit could not rest. Her soul, twisted with grief and fury, returned to seek out the man who had condemned her.

Marcellus, of course, had forgotten her completely, as he continued his life of luxury like nothing had happened.
