Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2042

"Phoenix?" Shannon asked the boy.

The boy didn't answer her, while Kai had already gone berserk. "What? You're saying this little guy is a phoenix?"

Phoenixes didn't come this small when they fell to earth, did they? Besides, weren't phoenixes supposed to have vanished ages ago?

The dragon clans, at least, still had surviving bloodlines and scattered legacies. But phoenixes? They were practically extinct. So, how on earth did one just show up like this, out of nowhere?

Since the boy was first brought to the Demon Control Agency for official registration, Reuben was also present. Compared to Kai's dramatic reaction, he appeared much calmer.

"He's a phoenix, indeed. But for some reason, he has no recollection of his ancestral background."

In other words, the boy had no idea he was a phoenix or a demon.

Among the demon clan, especially high-level ones like this, ancestral memory was typically innate. A case like this was exceedingly rare.

So, how did this clueless phoenix know to seek Shannon? Perhaps because, in this world, she was the only one who knew how to harness the power of phoenix.

"Missy."

The moment the boy saw Shannon, he lit up and trotted over with quick, eager steps. He looked about five to six years old, with clear, bright eyes full of curiosity as he tilted his head back to look at her.

Meanwhile, Kai immediately scowled when he heard the way the boy addressed her. He was obviously younger than Shannon in their human form! Why did she get "Missy" while he got "Daddy"?

This was blatant favoritism.

Yet neither Shannon nor the boy seemed to pay Kai the slightest bit of attention.

At the sound of that soft voice, Shannon simply extended a hand toward the boy. At her fingertip, a wisp of red supernatural energy coalesced. The next second, a tiny flicker of phoenix flame flared to life.

The child blinked in surprise, but as if drawn by instinct, he reached out too.

Undeniably, she had bridged that gap in just two years.

This was the innate power of the Ten-Tailed Elythune reincarnation, wasn't it?

"The DCA will create a file for him, but since he has no ancestral memories and no clan elders, I'll temporarily arrange for him to stay in the Demon District," Reuben said, turning to Shannon.

"He'll stay with you for now. Is that okay?"

Did she have a choice?

She nodded and turned to the boy. "Since you're coming with me, you should have a name. Do you remember what you're called?"

The boy recalled with seriousness, then eventually uttered, "Trevaris."
