Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1962

Boo was the name Benson had given Steen back at the panda base.

When Benson had first asked for his name, Steen had just waved the bamboo he'd been holding.

Now, after being struck by lightning in his true form, Steen's entire face was burned. Even his usually pristine white fur had turned a dirty gray. But despite his charred appearance, Benson recognized him instantly.

The tips of Steen's scorched ears twitched at the sound of the name "Boo". As he trotted over, his steps were light and graceful. Swaying his panda butt, he was visibly pleased.

Of course, Benson had been thinking about him, and that was why he could recognize Steen instantly.

Steen figured that all the hardships he'd suffered these past two days guarding Button were totally worth it.

Benson hadn't expected to find Steen, who'd gone missing for two days, right next to Button. Just like how Steen had suddenly appeared at the base, it had just as suddenly vanished again.

The base manager had suspected something strange about him, but Benson insisted that Steen was just a panda. How strange could anything be?

Now, it looked like he was Button's new friend made out in the wild.

The two pandas bounded toward Benson. According to protocol, he wasn't supposed to directly engage with wild pandas without protection.

But that was his Button. He didn't give a fuck.

Benson crouched down and opened his arms. Button immediately pounced and knocked him flat to the ground. Despite being soaked and muddy, it buried its head into Benson's arms and whimpered softly.

"Daddy! Daddy's here to take me home!"

Steen suddenly felt a pang of sadness. The silly Button still didn't understand what wild reintroduction meant.

It'd been released into the wild. Unless it seriously needed help, humans wouldn't take it back to live at the base again. Benson wasn't allowed either.

Benson couldn't hear Button's words, but he could sense its emotion from the way it snuggled and whimpered. His eyes reddened instantly.

Since Benson's calamity had been shared in from Button, he should be fine now that Button was safe. Still, they had to see it with their own eyes to feel truly at ease.

With that one glance, Shannon noticed something different from before.

When she read someone's face, she could see pieces of their past and possible future destinies. But just now, other than the current altered destiny, a flickering vision of the original destiny flashed in Shannon's eyes…

A flood surged through the mountains as Button fled alone and terrified, only to be buried under a wave of mud and rocks. When she was dug out, she had no signs of life.

Benson dropped onto his knees and cradled what remained of its broken body, wailing uncontrollably. His hair grayed overnight, and the pain drastically reduced his lifespan. He passed away before even reaching 60.

Shannon couldn't understand why she would suddenly witness that scene, but she knew that Button and Benson's destinies had changed. The tragedy would no longer come to pass.

While she was lost in thought, Benjamin seemed to sense her mood and silently grasped her hand.
