Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1946

Some people pretended not to love their children. Others, however, truly didn't love them.

At least for Cornelius, he had never felt love.

Perhaps that woman had once given him a little, but it was so small, so faint, that it had faded into the recesses of his memory. He had long forgotten what it felt like.

After learning about Cornelius' past, Luke, in the name of the Special Security Agency, decisively dealt with the dragon father who had tormented the human woman all those years ago.

He stripped it of half its scales and confined it to the clan's lands for over a century.

Cornelius was unaware of these events, though. There were always things kept from a child, things to leave them with "hope".

Thalia and the others fell into silence after hearing Cornelius' backstory.

Shannon, though aware that Cornelius was a half-demon, hadn't known the extent of his past.

She hadn't realized that Cornelius had been abandoned by both his parents and had struggled to survive for years with the appearance of a ten-year-old child.

Kai, too, was an orphan. Though his mother had tragically died when she evolved into a dragon, he had always been taken care of by his clan when he was young.

He hadn't known that Cornelius had endured such hardship in his early years. No wonder he was always so short-tempered, and suddenly gave him a beating.

He sighed, muttering, "I should've been the bigger person."

Benjamin shot Kai a glance but said nothing.

It was Thalia, however, who, despite not understanding why Reuben had taken in a half-demon dragon who despised the dragon clan, finally acknowledged the fact that Reuben had raised and nurtured a half-demon.

At that question, Kai seemed to suddenly recall something. He pointed toward the lake and said, "It's the array under the lake! Cornelius said that the array caused him to take on his dragon form."

Just then, everyone stopped focusing on Cornelius' actions and shifted their attention to the array at the lake's bottom. Intrigued by what kind of array it might be, Shannon decided to take a closer look.

She dove into the water, wrapping herself in a thin layer of supernatural energy to prevent being submerged, and quickly sank to the lake's bottom with her fox tail swishing behind her.

After carefully inspecting the array underwater, she didn't sense any stabilizing items. However, there was indeed a strange energy radiating from it, one that seemed to pull at her, making her feel a strong impulse to shift into her true form.

What was even more important, though, was that she felt an unsettling sense of familiarity about this array. It resembled the miniature Rift she and Mike had researched, yet there were clear differences.

In fact, the sigil radiated a tinge of Vlad's scent.

Shannon deduced that this was an array left behind by him.
