As the team leader finished speaking, several staff members from the Special Security Agency accompanying them stood up. Casting a rain spell couldn't be easier for them.
As soon as they rose, Kai seemed to have thought of something and stood up. He wasn't particularly interested in firefighting, but what if there was a connection for him inside?
Seeing how proactive Kai was for once, Shannon suggested, "I'll bring Kai over to handle some stuff. I'll leave you guys to this."
Thalia was unmoved. She was confident in Shannon's abilities, as always.
Neither the Special Security Agents had any objections about it, but they assigned personnel to follow them.
Kai couldn't care less about that. He transformed into a wyrm right before their eyes and flew Shannon into the sky, disappearing from sight.
The personnel left behind was dumbfounded but quickly pulled out a mobile boots talisman to go after them.
Departing from Antique Village, they followed the direction of the smoke and discovered that the fire was actually within the barrier.
By the time they arrived, Shannon and Kai were already there.
Several large trees and plants near the forest had caught fire, with thick black smoke rising into the sky, finally drawing the attention of the villagers down the mountain.
What surprised Shannon and Kai was that not far from the fire, there were two familiar figures. It was the pair of human traffickers who had been buried in the ground by Emeralda earlier.
Although they didn't know how the two had managed to emerge from the soil ahead of time, Shannon had a strong instinct that this sudden wildfire was somehow connected to them.
"I'm going to catch them, Shannon!" said Kai.
After receiving an affirmative nod from her, he placed her in an open space and swiftly headed in the direction where the couple had escaped.
Shannon looked up at the fire rapidly spreading not far away and, without hesitation, drew a talisman in the void. "With all laws reduced to water… With the talisman as my seal, with energy as my guide.
"By the decree of pardon, waters flow to all!"
"Usually, when something happens in the village, Montaro would be running around. Where is he today? Has anyone seen him?"
The villagers exchanged confused looks, all shaking their heads, indicating they didn't know. They had no idea that, even before the wildfire had fully started, Montaro had already run up the mountain.
At first, there was a thunderclap, an unexpected dry lightning strike.
While the villagers were enjoying the carrot cakes that Marlowe had handed out, Montaro seemed to sense something was wrong. He immediately abandoned his dessert and ran toward the mountain.
As for the cause of the fire, it was just as Shannon had guessed.
The dry lightning had struck the wooden plaque Kai had inserted between the couple, which was just enough to dislodge the nearly exhausted couple buried underground.
The couple struggled to crawl out of the pit. Although they had been without food or water for two days, they still remembered the person who had buried them, vowing that after two days, they would call the authorities to have them arrested.
