Shannon had always been sensitive to public displays of affection.
She pulled away from Thalia and asked, "Why are you in charge of receiving the replicated artifacts?"
Thalia didn't seem bothered by being pushed away. She simply tossed her hair and said, "Why not me? I'm the one who brought them back from abroad in the first place."
She was the one who'd brought the artifacts back in their half-spirit state and built the Antique Village before sealing it away with a barrier to keep it safe from external interference.
Plus, she'd also devised the self-sacrificing plan to exchange a few for the survival of the many.
So now, when it was time to swap the replicas with the half-spirits residing in the Eldoria museums, she had to be the one to do it. Or rather, only she could do it.
This had been settled the moment she heard about Shannon's plan after returning from the alternate world. She'd submitted a request to Luke and had it approved.
Shannon knew that once Thalia had made up her mind, there was no changing it. She didn't try to persuade the latter otherwise and asked, "Are you sure you can pull this off?"
Hearing the concern in her voice, Thalia grinned confidently. "Swapping out replicas under the noses of the foreigners won't be easy, but I'm different from the others in the Special Security Agency. I have experience."
Shannon was utterly speechless. She had to admit she was convinced. No one could compete with Thalia when it came to experience.
Thalia added, "Once I've received this batch of replicas, I'm heading out immediately. Besides agents from the Special Security Agency, Hector is coming with me."
Shannon blinked in surprise. Hector was going too?
Thalia nodded.
Though the Devil Hunter Association would mediate the situation, there was no guarantee the Eldoria Museum wouldn't pull something unexpected. Having Hector meant they'd have a stronger negotiator than the agents in case things got tricky.
Fortunately, Hector had worked with the Special Security Agency. And from what Thalia heard, he'd even struck a deal with Luke in private.
To ensure that the spiritual strength within the replicas remained intact, the villagers were required to infuse their soul remnants into their respective artifacts. This was agreed on beforehand.
Compared to extracting a half-spirit to create a replica, infusing a soul remnant and spiritual strength was easier.
Harlan led the villagers in forming a circle around the replicas. Together, they exhaled a synchronized breath to blow soul remnants into the replicas.
At that moment, thunder rumbled above Antique Village. Benjamin looked up at the sky but didn't react.
Just as the process was about to be completed, thick black smoke rose above the village's barrier, and a voice shouted from below the mountains, "Fire! The mountain is on fire!"
Harlan and the villagers were about to be distracted when the Special Security Agency's team leader stopped them.
He swept his gaze over the gathered mystic masters and calmly said, "Don't worry. It won't burn."
