Chapter Twenty

He doesn't turn around, his back still facing her.

Sahaan takes baby steps towards him. When she stands in front of him, he clenches his fists yet has a blank look on his face.

They both knew of the inner turmoil, masked away by the blank expression.

"This was your so-called loyalty? Pathans are never supposed to betray anyone nor are they supposed to break their promises. Isn’t that right?” Her voice is filled with pain.

She comes closer and holds him by the collar, pulling him down to her eye level. Due to the sudden jerk, he holds her waist, preventing their fall.

Their eyes meet and something twists inside Ahmed, seeing her painful teary eyes.

"Get out! I release you from your petty promise. This is the first time I’ve seen a Pathan break a promise." She mocks him about his pride as a Pathan.

"May God give you all the happiness in the world. But remember this; you insulted my pure love for you and for that, I will never forgive you!” She pushes him back. She turns away from him as she tries to control her tears.

He looks at her and opens his mouth to say something, but words don't come out. For the first time, someone left Mr. Ahmed Ashar Khan speechless.

He is stunned, surprised, and shocked at her words.

He sighs dejectedly, running his hand through his hair. But he does what he always does in such situations, he rushes out of her room.

She sits on the floor, crying. She keeps thinking of his harsh words, which were like a dagger to her poor fragile heart.

“Which idiot writes letters nowadays? I just did something simple. All I did was replace his files with your letters and boom! The bomb blasted on its own,” she cackles like a hyena.
