He Watched Me Shine Without Him novel Chapter 67

Ethan watched the harmonious scene between Rose and Houston, which sharply contrasted with his own current humiliation. Not wanting to be ridiculed by Houston and Rose, he quietly turned around and went back inside.

To appease Ethan, Aaron proposed a tempting offer, "Ethan, Vivian said you've been under a lot of pressure lately because you're trying to get your job regularized. Is it true that you've been socializing a lot with friends to help with that?"

Ethan was taken aback for a moment, then nodded.

Aaron continued, "Don't worry about that. I'll make sure your regularization goes smoothly. Once your job is secure, we'll arrange the wedding. You and Vivian should settle down and live happily."

Ethan's mood brightened slightly.

Work has always been a major concern for me. Although I had a Ph.D., in a society flooded with overseas-educated talents, my degree from an Ivy League university wasn't enough to secure a position at the best hospital in Crestview.

Thanks to Vivian's father's strong support, Ethan and Vivian reconciled and were back to normal.

At the hospital, Houston dropped Rose off at the hospital. As they arrived at the entrance, Houston quickly noticed a familiar license plate.

His heart skipped a beat, and he steadied himself before taking Rose's hand.

"Rose."

Rose looked at him in surprise, not understanding why his expression had suddenly become so serious.

"My grandfather wants to see you alone," he said.

Rose was shocked, but she quickly became nervous. "Is he going to evaluate me as his granddaughter-in-law?"

Houston replied assertively, "He doesn't have that right. My wife is my decision."

Rose laughed. "Actually, I should have bought gifts to visit your family a long time ago. But you never told me about your family background, and I thought you had some secrets, so I didn't ask."

Houston's gaze softened, filled with tenderness and a hint of emotion.

Rose was perceptive and considerate, always mindful of my feelings. Such a good girl was truly rare.

"Rose, my grandfather is in the car ahead. Go and meet him with confidence. He has a humorous and easygoing personality," Houston said, gently patting Rose's head.

Rose swallowed hard. "Now?"

She quickly tidied her hair and clothes, then nervously stepped out of the car.

The door of the Blaze in front suddenly slid open.

The driver got out and welcomed Rose into the car.

Rose called Ryan "Houston," which meant Ryan hadn't revealed his true identity to Rose. Perhaps he wanted to protect Rose from the Clarkes? Or maybe he didn't acknowledge himself as part of the Clarke family and chose his mother's surname instead?
