He Watched Me Shine Without Him novel Chapter 65

"She has exceptional medical skills and can cure my illness," Houston blurted out.

Maxwell looked into his grandson's clever eyes. "You're not telling the truth."

Houston replied, "Do I look like someone troubled by love?"

Maxwell fell silent.

My grandson, Ryan Clarke, is invincible in the business world and has never shown interest in women, leading many to believe he is asexual.

Though he felt a bit regretful about his grandson's choice, seeing Houston's healthy, rosy complexion during the day, he chose to compromise.

He said, "You've chosen a marriage without love, which might be better for you. It spares you the turmoil of love, and it helps stabilize your condition. Fine, since I've agreed to your terms and will support you and Rose, now, shouldn't you return Anna to me?"

Houston nodded.

The chairman then ordered his men to take Ms. Anna away.

Houston instructed Daniel, "Clean up this place. If anyone dares to leak today's events, they'll suffer the punishment Anna didn't finish."

"Yes, sir."

The night was as dark as ink.

Houston left the company and drove his Marvel towards the Bloomingdale Residence.

The vast night sky enveloped the speeding Marvel, making Houston feel incredibly small, like a speck of dust, unable to grasp the unpredictable world.

He felt a vague sense of unease.

Is bringing Rose into the Clarke family the right decision?

When Houston got home, the bedroom lamp was on. He tiptoed in and saw Rose sitting by the desk, staying up late to read.

Rose turned at the sound.

Seeing Houston, she quickly closed her book.

Houston walked over and gently embraced her from behind, resting his head softly on her shoulder.

"Why aren't you asleep?"

Rose replied, "I couldn't sleep without you."

Houston turned her to face him. "Rose, I made you worry."

Rose smiled, "Men always have social obligations."

Houston hugged her and cooed, "I haven't eaten yet."

Rose's eyes softened with concern. "Then I'll make you a bowl of noodles?"

"Okay," Houston's voice was hoarse with emotion.

Soon, Rose brought over a bowl of beef stew with noodles, topped with a poached egg.

Houston devoured it quickly, then patted his satisfied stomach.

Rose gently wiped a bit of soup from the corner of his mouth with her fingertip and smiled, "Eat slower."
