He Watched Me Shine Without Him novel Chapter 55

Sam unexpectedly followed them out. After some deliberation, he decided to show some favor to his soon-to-be son-in-law, Houston.

"Um... Houston," he called out hesitantly.

Houston stopped in his tracks, looking at him in surprise.

"Get home early after work," Sam said.

Houston was taken aback for a moment, then he smiled warmly. "Mr. Sam, I'll go home with Rose."

"Okay," Sam nodded, then walked back into the house with his hands behind his back and a hunched posture.

Rose stood there, stunned. Houston ruffled her hair and sighed, "Rose, you're really lucky. Our parents truly love you."

Rose's eyes welled up. "But I made Dad worry."

"Don't worry," Houston said reassuringly. "I'll prove to him that choosing me was the wisest decision you ever made."

Rose laughed through her tears. She took Houston's arm and said, "Let's go."

Houston escorted Rose to the hospital. When Rose went to the changing room to put on her white coat, she saw Ethan leaning against the corridor beside it. The way he looked at her was strange, almost like a wronged wife, exuding a sense of listlessness.

"Rose, I never expected you to be this kind of person," Ethan said coldly.

Rose's face turned stern. "Ethan Walker, what do you mean?"

Ethan stepped closer to her. "When you were my girlfriend, you acted so pure and chaste, making me think you were conservative and innocent. But look at you now, jumping into bed with another man so quickly. Rose, you never really wanted to be with me in the first place, did you?"

Rose was both angry and amused. "Ethan, you were the one who destroyed our relationship. You have no right to blame me now."

Rose tried to walk past him into the changing room, but Ethan followed her in like a shadow.

Rose looked at him exasperatedly. "Ethan, are you serious? I need to change. Get out."

Ethan's eyes darkened with anger. "It's just a coat change. Were you that reserved in front of me? You were pretty wild with Houston last night, weren't you?"

Rose's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "How do you know about that?"

Ethan took out his phone and played a recording from last night. Rose's voice, filled with moans, filled the air, making her blush furiously.

Ethan chuckled. "Your man had the microphone on so loud. He wanted me to hear, didn't he?"

Rose quickly checked her phone to understand what had happened. After realizing the situation, she confronted Ethan angrily. "Why did you send me a text in the middle of the night? This could make Houston think I'm immoral."

Ethan looked annoyed. "You care so much about what he thinks of you? I just wanted to apologize."

My love for Ethan used to be deep, but now it was restrained.
